Don't think it gets much more sophisticated than...

"Up to 160 Master Stations, 160 Video Door Stations, 960 Room Sub Stations can be combined per site"

Sadly the MSM has you and lots of other 'mericans thinking there "is a Camera behind every blade of grass"

Dude or Dudett, I know what I'm talking bout...I've got several High schools with 80+ cameras and Net based video storage approaching 50 terabytes....

Okay so based on all the technical jargon, you know what these systems are capable of and which one was "probably" in place at Sandy Hook.

Basic questions: is there video footage of whatever happened at Sandy Hook? Should there be normally? Was there a malfunction?

How was the footage described in the article I cited obtained? It must have been saved somewhere for L.E. to see it, right?

quick primer: info flow..... Camera(digital or analog) hooked to Cable(ethernet/fiber or coax)...routed thru building to...DVR(Digital Video Recorder)...stored on Hard Drive(s).....Incident happens...LEO uses special(Proprietary) software to review the recorded video...most have a DVD burner to "make a copy" if needed for court.

Now that being said...there are literally hundreds of Video surveillance equipment Mfg's and each tries to make it hard for you(the end user) to mix and match stuff, they want you to buy their equipment and "ONLY" their equipment...and don't get me started on software...I currently have 7 different "Video" player software packages on my laptop for different schools.

Okay so it sounds like if there was any video surveillance in place at Sandy Hook, then the recorded data would be on a hard drive somewhere.

The information contained on it is obviously important.

that is if the camera(s) were pointed in the right direction

things happen,...the main thing is a cameras power supply fails and we don't get a call about it until they need "the footage"

DVRs Malfunction, I've had them look, by all indications, to be recording when, in fact all the data going onto the Hard Drive was corrupt

I've had everything from baseballs to rocks to shoes thrown at a camera, trying to "knock it out"...

and I've said in other threads about PTZ(Pan Tilt, Zoom)cameras, you can set "a tour" for these where that move around on their own...the bad pat is they seem to be pointing somewhere else other that where the "action" is.
