Anonymous Coward User ID: 32405669 United States 01/17/2013 11:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I used to be a computer consultant in the 1990's, and whenever I took the case off a computer in a business, I would see the interior of the computer, the components, the cards, the power supply/fan, all of it covered with a fine downy substance. It was fibers from the carpets, and I realized that the air being drawn into computers is the same air drawn into lungs. Most carpeting is composed of non-biodegradeable plastic fibers. Hence, I concluded that in buildings all over the "civilized" world, people are drawing tiny little fibers of non-degradeable plastics into their bronchial tubes and lungs. No wonder there has been a huge increase in respiratory diseases! No wonder the incidence of respiratory ailments does not go down, even with first hand and second hand smoke removed from the areas where people live. It's not the cigaret smoke, it is in the carpeting! Can you imagine what it would cost to eliminate carpeting the way they did asbestos? I removed all carpeting from our house, and since then, we breathe just plain old dust. Pop the case off your computer, and see what YOU are breathing. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1519000 Canada 01/17/2013 12:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There's nothing wrong with tobacco. It's the other thousands of chemicals they put into it that cause the harm. I smoked for two or three years and have asthma since a child. My asthma was way worse when I smoked, obviously it isn't healthy for you. But to say that smoking alone is the cause of cancer or heart disease is stupid. Diet and air pollution play a big role too. This entire culture is diseased and people don't even care. Not to mention the shit they spray in our skies. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if those heavy metals are causing cancers and other respitory diseases. We live in a sick fucking world. And are polluting our earth and ourselves. Life feels like a bad dream most of the time. It's pretty fucking disgusting. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 32440132 Romania 01/17/2013 02:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Re: WTF !!! Cigarette smoking causes 443,000 deaths PER YEAR in U.S. !!! You want to know why it is so high? Let me tell you. My MIL died of lung cancer a few years back. Never smoked a day in her life. On her death certificate it says under contributing factors 'Tobacco use'. This flipped me the fuck out so I went to the hospital where she died and demanded an explanation. So it turns out that the doctor that did the autopsy had seen damage to the lungs consistent with tobacco use. Really, she never smoked and in fact hated cigarettes, so this was a real slap in the face. Bottom line was they then said it was consistent with second hand smoke. Again, she hated smoke and would head the other way the second she smelled it. So my take away from that is that if you die of any lung disease tobacco use will be listed as a contributing factor whether it has any basis in reality or not. That is some bullshit. Thread: WTF !!! Cigarette smoking causes 443,000 deaths PER YEAR in U.S. !!! |

The truth is that the anti-smoking vaccine targets VMAT2 gene, called the God gene. Geneticist Dean Hamer has suggested that the VMAT2 gene correlates with spirituality using data from a smoking survey, which included questions intended to measure "self-transcendence". Hamer performed the spirituality study on the side, independently of the National Cancer Institute smoking study. His findings were published in the mass-market book The God Gene: How Faith Is Hard-Wired Into Our Genes.
