Anonymous Coward 01/14/2013 06:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is TELLING. Remember, hollywood/actors' images are used for certain triggers in your brain. It's simple, it's the way humans operate. But it's a big deal, especially when you can't consciously recognize what's happening. These actors, and all the movies you've ever seen with them... it's all in your brain, once you see it, it's there forever. If you watched a movie in the '70s with Jodie Foster in it, and you're still alive on this planet today, and Jodie Foster is still alive on the planet today... Guess what, an exchange happened there. Whether any of you people obsessed with TV and movies and all that other bullshit want to admit it or not... your brain is programmed. So take it one step beyond and imagine YOU are an actor that has been used in roles... not only does your life take on certain complications (addressed in her speech) because of it, but your existence, in this reality, is altered. Anyone who's a hollywood actor (etc.) basically has an active agreement that states their image is owned. Therefore, when you talk 'off the record', when you're ON NATIONAL TV... You have truly made a statement. |

I am not a sheeple whatsoever... I don't watch TV, I rarely watch movies... I definitely haven't tuned in to any award show on the planet since I was a kid. So definitely don't think I eat up media like a fly on shit... I do not. But this speech Foster gave at the Globes the other night? DOUBLESPEAK. This is a big deal... sure, it's way down the ladder, and practically just gossip among the peasants (hollywood actors aren't paid shit compared to the big boys, Madonna's net worth is a meager 650mil)... BUT... it shows something is up, something serious... and look at the faces of others in attendance... Mel Gibson for example... 4:38, read his face (yes I understand they're actors) and tell me he doesn't think what she is doing/saying with this speech = fucking serious. The last 2 minutes are most important. You can see it on a few other faces as well, they knew what was really going on and what she was really saying... and who she was really talking to. Eyes and ears, ladies and gentlemen. [link to www.youtube.com] That's not what I got out of it... She said something moving about her mother that made people at home tear up! That explains the look on their faces. Also, she just came out so to speak.. So that would obviously be the end of an era and start of a new one. |

Quoting: M-Class 25 She was brutally honest when she said she was horribly lonely. Not to mention being in show business since 3 yrs old would be pretty lonely. Kid actors don't have time for friends and fun like most kids. |

Quoting: M-Class 25 She was brutally honest when she said she was horribly lonely. I like her a lot too. She has much integrity and you can see it when she acts because she is authentic. She was using double speak for sure. I tried to understand it but it went over my head. If there is anyone in Hollywood I would respect and pay attention to it would be her. I agree there was something going on but can't say what. I think for the most part Hollywood is showing the stress and strain big time. They just don't seem like business as usual, you can see it. It is almost like they know something BIG is getting ready to happen and they are in one of the best positions to know. Last Edited by duncog2012 on 01/14/2013 07:12 PM duncog2012 |

Turns out she isn't. [link to www.hollywoodreporter.com] The point she meant to make in her speech, she explained, was that “my work is evolving.” Foster later added that her award was like a graduation of sorts, comparing it to a high school or university commencement. It's an honor that allows one to re-examine “the patterns of your career and how they express you psychologically,” she said. |

Most everyone knew you were gay from way back in the '70's! Didn't change a thing for most of your fans. We knew, we didn't care. You were still a damn fine actor! I think it's worth mentioning here, in case anyone cares. If you do some research, OP and others on this thread, then you'll see that Hollywood IS scared. I first noticed this last week with this article: (I cannot post the link, but good the guardian.co.uk and find the inteview with Steven Soderbergh and Behind the Candelabra movie. In it, Soderbergh actually says, "They were scared" (meaning the studios) about marketing a "gay" film. I am puzzled by Mel Gibson's "look." He looked petrified. It's almost as if she has all the goods on them...I don't know. It was definitely weird. |
