Remember, hollywood/actors' images are used for certain triggers in your brain. It's simple, it's the way humans operate. But it's a big deal, especially when you can't consciously recognize what's happening. These actors, and all the movies you've ever seen with them... it's all in your brain, once you see it, it's there forever. If you watched a movie in the '70s with Jodie Foster in it, and you're still alive on this planet today, and Jodie Foster is still alive on the planet today...

Guess what, an exchange happened there. Whether any of you people obsessed with TV and movies and all that other bullshit want to admit it or not... your brain is programmed.

So take it one step beyond and imagine YOU are an actor that has been used in roles... not only does your life take on certain complications (addressed in her speech) because of it, but your existence, in this reality, is altered.

Anyone who's a hollywood actor (etc.) basically has an active agreement that states their image is owned. Therefore, when you talk 'off the record', when you're ON NATIONAL TV...

You have truly made a statement.

I love Jodie and her movies. She came out but at the same time really didn't.

She was brutally honest when she said she was horribly lonely.

Yes, the subtle references said volumes.

That's not what I got out of it... She said something moving about her mother that made people at home tear up!

That explains the look on their faces. Also, she just came out so to speak.. So that would obviously be the end of an era and start of a new one.

Regardless: you have to admit the speil about privacy has to raise some eyebrows.

Not to mention being in show business since 3 yrs old would be pretty lonely. Kid actors don't have time for friends and fun like most kids.

I like her a lot too. She has much integrity and you can see it when she acts because she is authentic. She was using double speak for sure. I tried to understand it but it went over my head. If there is anyone in Hollywood I would respect and pay attention to it would be her.

I agree there was something going on but can't say what. I think for the most part Hollywood is showing the stress and strain big time. They just don't seem like business as usual, you can see it. It is almost like they know something BIG is getting ready to happen and they are in one of the best positions to know.

I can never interpret double speak. Please spell out the point you think she is making.

Everyone in the audience looks very concerned and worried and I don't think they are acting.

I think she had alot of liquid courage before walking up.

There is more going on and I think they are well informed and aware of the condition of the planet and the things that are about to occur. It was almost like they were all in mourning. Like they know something BIG AND BAD is on the way. It was almost like a farewell speech? I mean her mother isn't gone yet, right?

I watched that, too, and thought, there is something going on here that is above our heads.

I think it's worth mentioning here, in case anyone cares. If you do some research, OP and others on this thread, then you'll see that Hollywood IS scared. I first noticed this last week with this article:

(I cannot post the link, but good the guardian.co.uk and find the inteview with Steven Soderbergh and Behind the Candelabra movie.

In it, Soderbergh actually says, "They were scared" (meaning the studios) about marketing a "gay" film.

I am puzzled by Mel Gibson's "look." He looked petrified. It's almost as if she has all the goods on them...I don't know. It was definitely weird.
