The best way to know if your stereo is the cats meow is to crank this song....your windows and foundation should shake and stuff should be falling off shelves. If not, your stereo sucks....LOL!
oh and, you should be able to sit within the room as you do it.

Re: Why B&W ?
There should be no bickering in this thread, just celebration that many speakers that were once out of reach financially are now affordable

Right now I am rocking Mirage in the home theater, and Martin Logans in 2 ch configuration.

The mirages are an incredible value now. Yes, they are assembled in China but I must say the craftsmanship is surprisingly 1st rate.

Years ago when I was installing this stuff, I never imagined I'd be able to afford it.

I change speakers constantly now, Mt next purchase may be a set of Maggies with one of their new bass modules.

have you "as a installer" ever heard the RF7 klipsch's?
 Quoting: Roppee

Sorry, when I think of Klipsch, I think of Klipschorns, aka "K-horns" or LaScalas.

I have a 1st gen 5.1 Klipsch set for my computer, and they are good for what they were at the time but it's time for a change.

The newer Klipsch horns sound harsh to me, that doesn't mean they're not a great speaker for you, and they can put out some serious SPL for those that are modestly amped.

Speaker debates are absolutely pointless as every set of ears is different.I believe life is short and you should experience as many as you can afford to rotate through.

FYI, I haven't installed in about 15 years. Consumer electronics is a whole different world now.

not to be harsh. but how can u say u know whats going on when you 15yrs outta the market?
 Quoting: Roppee

There really wasn't any reason for your dick response. I offered no criticism of your choice in speakers, as it is a personal choice that can be wildly different from person to person.

But since you want to be a dick...

I'm hardly "out of the market" as home audio/video has been a passion and hobby of mine since I was 12.

I would really like to know what amp you auditioned the B&W's with. Most likely what you were hearing was the amp clipping, not "the speaker breaking down". The Klipsch will perform far better with modern receiver power than the much less efficient B&W's. I suspect if the B&W's were fed proper power, they would give yours a run for their money SPL wise and probably be more accurate with far less listener fatigue at reference levels.

Your OP is all I really needed to know that you don't have a fuckin clue what you are talking about. The ignorance just oozes from your words.

You'd be much better served to STFU and quit being a dick, then you might actually learn something.

I've forgotten more about home a/v than you will ever know.

Go listen to a properly amped and set up pair of Klipshorns or ADS 1530's and get back with me.

You people must like getting ripped off. I'll put my Coby bookshelf system I bought at Sears up to any of your stereo systems any day. It also comes with a built in CD player too.

Re: Why B&W ?
Sniff sniff, all I want is a decent receiver to play my music on. NOOOOO!!! No sir, I don't need it to be 3D compatible or have blue ray. I just want to play music thru it.

NOOOO! No sir I DON'T want an iPod docking station! I want a receiver to play music thru that won't sound like shit with enough power to run 2 set of speakers at the same time & a sub sometimes.

Yes, wifi would be nice!

My Technics SA-AX730 was doing a wonderful job till the electrical "smart meter" was installed at my home & blew up the receiver & some other things. So far I have been very disappointed with what I've brought home.

Any suggestions???

look for a 4311 denon receiver. its a few years old but at 140 per 7.1 channel is nice.My brother just got it a few months ago. Hes got some nice B&W speakers that need that 140 per channel..and it shows.im using the 3313 denon now at 110 and its all I need for the klipsch speakers I use ...but the 4311 denon its a powerhouse and would recommend to any b&w owners, or other power hungry speakers

Re: Why B&W ?
I was thinking of getting a pair of B&W's when I upgrade my Hi-fi. Running Infinity SM-122's through a h/k receiver and audiosource amp. Sounds OK except the mids are a little muddy, and the highs can be somewhat tinny.

I was also considering the Axiom Audio M60s floor standing speakers. They sell for around a grand. Their suppose to be top notch for the money and are built in Canada.

Anyone here have an opinion on Axiom?
