Sweden, Iceland, or New Zealand where my top picks but after looking into how hard it was to actually go there and live I kind of gave up on the dream for now. I was going to do it more for the experience of living in in one of those country's then escape this one. Although maybe now with what is going on an escape might of been smart. New Zealand is beautiful but because it is a smaller country there are not the opportunities that bigger countries provide. Save hard and go for a visit to them all and see which one feels good. I have served and lived overseas for a few years and will fight to keep her alive if it comes to that. But the dream of living in New Zealand, Iceland, Sweden, or anywhere else goes beyond fleeing something your scared of. More so for me its an adventure, new way of life, a way to see new things, meet new people, climb new mountains.. I am a Nomad at heart and would love to see how the others live even if its just for the experience of it all. "We're all in the same game; Just different levels. Must be something pretty good here, and honestly, they don't have the power to get all of us...we have to do it to ourselves, with the help of their lies and propaganda so turn it off and give it back to them. They are people of the lie and they have no soul, no passion and no love. Their strength is in illusion What makes humans powerful is their passion married to strength and reason. No, life is not perfect here. Nor is it perfect anywhere. Every place has its down side just as any job does. It is good to live and work in another country. Most people who do end up appreciating their home country, where ever that is, even more -- excepting, of course, those who come from the places where every day is an exercise in horror and semi-starvation. |

Foreign countries, even if they speak English, take a while to get used and lack a lot of things people take for granted. For example, good luck finding a decent pizza where I'm at. Public toilets with toilet paper. Good roads that are wide enough. Comfortable climate without AC. Poverty at every corner. They just imposed "sin taxes" on liquor and tobacco, so that's a negative too. 12% value added tax on everything. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 11922974 01/14/2013 11:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Where can you go thats much better than the US at the present time? Argentina is up and coming but still has high unemployment. Europe is in the midst of a financial meltdown (and frankly all the overly religious muslims I hear about there don't seem real inviting). Obviously 3rd world countries are out and every country in central and south america (with exception to argentina) and every country in north africa. China would be interesting only they have a horrible unemployment rate and they make little to work in factories so it would depend on your skill set. Japan does not take outsiders unless your a nuclear scientist. Australia and Canada I put on par with america and would not be worth the time and effort to move. I do think New Zealand has some upside, but at the moment the global economy is hurting it too. I guess the point I'm making is that its bad all over the world right now. The future is bleak at best. Guess we just have to ride it out and be brave. Who knows maybe a change in events will get things straightened out. |
