Quoting: Brain Fog Fred A lot would depend on your age and what you did for work. I would recommend staying out of the major cities if you could. You will have a better experience in a smaller town. The Northeast is great with so much to see and do within a days drive. I also like Colorado, Florida, and the northwest. But take your pick, Its really still a great place to live just about everywhere. And our women are as beautiful as you see on TV everywhere, and they love dudes with accents... Anonymous Coward User ID: 32247363 Australia 01/15/2013 01:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | New Zealand is a very clean, green and beautiful country. It has always been a world leader in anything to do with environment issues and is Nuclear Free. The people are open and relatively low key. Many people have said that kiwis are very similar to Canadian's. There is a growing creative and cultural energy in NZ and when I go back I always find it refreshing. Of course "The Lord of the Rings" Trilogy has meant that a lot of resources are now available for film makers there. I think I even heard that James Cameron is going to move there to live. Kiwi's are pretty tolerant people and admire hard work so if you are happy to work hard you will soon be accepted. There is sometimes a general view that Americans can be a bit loud and insular (eg, think kiwis are all running around in grass skirts, etc) but mainly Kiwis take people as they come. If you love mountains, forests, bush walking, etc, you will be in absolute heaven! Where I was brought up is very rural and as a young person I felt like I wanted to see the world and it was all too boring. Someone mentioned that the cost of living is a bit higher which is true. Compared to Australia the wages are a bit lower too. As suggested, take a little trip and see how you like it. Make sure you include the South Island in the trip as this is the most beautiful and scenic if you love Mountains. I am a Kiwi who lived in the UK for years and now reside in Australia. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29124083 If you are determined and willing to take the risk you can survive anywhere. New Zealand is beautiful but because it is a smaller country there are not the opportunities that bigger countries provide. Save hard and go for a visit to them all and see which one feels good. I firmly believe that if you have a good work ethic and are prepared to make some sacrifice along the way you can end up living anywhere. Tell me about New Zealand, I am a huge outdoor kinda guy and that place looks like the most beautiful country on the planet from what i can tell. How are jobs? how hard is it getting a job as an ex american? are we liked or at least tolerated by the Kiwi's ? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 32163729 Mongolia 01/15/2013 01:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Where can you go thats much better than the US at the present time? Argentina is up and coming but still has high unemployment. Europe is in the midst of a financial meltdown (and frankly all the overly religious muslims I hear about there don't seem real inviting). Obviously 3rd world countries are out and every country in central and south america (with exception to argentina) and every country in north africa. China would be interesting only they have a horrible unemployment rate and they make little to work in factories so it would depend on your skill set. Japan does not take outsiders unless your a nuclear scientist. Australia and Canada I put on par with america and would not be worth the time and effort to move. I do think New Zealand has some upside, but at the moment the global economy is hurting it too. I guess the point I'm making is that its bad all over the world right now. The future is bleak at best. Guess we just have to ride it out and be brave. Who knows maybe a change in events will get things straightened out. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11922974 There may be no places that are better than America was. But that's changing now. With the cornerstone of it's Bill of Rights on the Executioner's block, America is entering very perilous times. And with Herr Diktator-in-Chief pushing anti-American edicts and legislation so hard and so fast, the death throes of the now bankrupt America will only accelerate. TPTB destroyed what was America, now it's just a matter of the Sh** catching up with The Fan. So now it's time to find a quick exit strategy when you come to realize that you are not leaving your country, but rather your country (gov't) has left you! Don't be the last one off the ship! |

Just so they could continue their war of conquest with the Creeks, Kusatees, and Uchees? Yes, the Cherokees were the Conquistadores of their day. And after their chiefs sold their lands to the English settlers, they then broke their agreements and made war against those English who purchased the lands for large amounts money, guns, furs, etc. Everybody made war and conquest with each other back then. It was an ugly history for everyone with a worldview of conquest, Cherokees, English and American settlers included. And you can blame Pres. Andrew jackson and his Congress for the Trail of Tears. George Washington was fine with everyone staying in their homelands. Jefferson and Lincoln supported the Indians' right to stay too. But Jackson and his Congress passed the bill to pressure them out after overcoming great opposition in Congress. It was a tragedy for all. |

Like right now they are saying with one hand that they are trying to take your guns, while they are really picking your wallets out of your pockets with the other hand. Typical magicians trick, but very few recognize it for what it is. Hope y'all wake up soon tho, I'd love to come back and hang in the ole hood. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 32163729 Mongolia 01/15/2013 02:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hmmm. They say everyone has a line in the sand. It seems these people prefer that sand to be in another country. What happens when they run out of sand? Gonna move to the moon? LOL What a shame to abandon this beautiful land of ours to these criminals and thugs. You can run but you cannot hide. When freedom dies here...it dies everywhere. I think if you check any free country you would like to move to (and would let you) ...you will find it's freedom propped up by americas money and might. I was watching Dr.Who the other night and the character said "President Obama is going to fix the economy." He was happy to be saved by the POTUS. Funny thing was...He was British living in England. And for those of you who know Dr.Who...No it wasnt in some weird future it was in the present. :flag waver: Yes, the land is beautiful, but when a nation falls to oppressors, that changes the reality of the situation on the ground. Beauty cannot overcome tyranny. Times, they are a change'in, unfortunately. Look at how beautiful Cuba and Haiti's natural settings are? Despite that, they have their issues that make them not-so-friendly places to live. The criminals and thugs have taken over in the US, UK & EU. They now make the rules; their rules. And they control the police and military. What do you control? Freedom does an can exist outside of the USA. No place is truly free, but some places fare better than others. And soon, it'll be easy to find palces with freedom greater than the new USSA. It's only a short matter of time before this happens. And Amerikan money does not control all of the world. There's a fundamental shift in the works right now, where money and influence is shifting away from the west and into the east. I think the BRICs will resist the NWO. I think the future will see their influence gaining as the USSA's diminishes. While the BRICs are not bastions of freedom, I think they will outlast the west when it finally collapses under the weight of it's own bancruptcy, mismanagement and tyranny. Freedom will be what you can make of it while keeping your head down in remote areas away from the NWO Empire and big gov'ts in general, I think. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 32163729 Mongolia 01/15/2013 02:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'd say if you really were planning on fleeing your country (US or wherever) if you don't know where to go, save up first and go on a tour of the countries that sound promising. Yeah, it still wouldn't be THAT informative since most countries have a range of vast diversity. i.e.. one part may be a shithole while another part may be paradise. Quoting: Master X You are spot on with your advice. I did, and am richer for it. Plus it gives you options. If you embrace a nomadic mindset, if one place gets too 'hot', you know you have other places to go as you've been there and can set up options in advance. Knowing you have options can give you a sense of freedom. Otherwise, you invariably come to feel trapped and possibly even hopeless. Between feeling trapped and feeling free, I'll choose free. |
