I've served with the brits in iraq and I refused to walk in front of them after the 4th accidental discharge. They blamed it on their "new weapons".

Your soldiers aren't skilled. They act like they never handle weapons at home. Our CO personally requested that the detachment be removed as they were more of a threat to themselves and the whole cav than they were to the enemy. We thought that they had rules not to engage. I don't think they spent one round in baghdad, besides the ones they dropped off by accident.

I only bumped into them when picking up med supplies in the second deployment.
So their performance there, I can't judge. The first may have been a bad batch, but I doubt it.

I know no irish men, so i can't judge; but I'd rather fight next to an American woman than a British man - and I think women have no business on a battlefield.

This is what happens when you make the gross error of launching a "War on Terror" and covertly instigating and supporting an Arab "Spring" thereby eliminating the restrainer that had been placed on al-Qaeda and the mujahideen in the Middle East.

Now that Saddam, Ben Ali, Gaddafi and Mubarak have fallen (with Assad next on the list) al-Qaeda and her affiliates (who currently call themselves "the Syrian rebels" in Syria) have free reign to travel at will across borders in the Middle East, particularly now from North Africa across to West Africa, where the West has genuine national interests. They also have access to some very fine heavy weaponry, including portable MANPADS, thanks to the CIA and her Western partners. You better hope that Assad doesn't fall, because if he does al-Qaeda will have access to the largest chemical and biological weapons cache in the Middle East.

The West is still trying out how to take Syria. Thankfully, Russia has drawn the line at Syria and is fully prepared to defend her national interests in the region.
