Well said indeed!

Here is the problem as I see it.

No one likes Congress, yet, most like their Congressperson.

Therefore, we have a problem. The only person all 300 million of us vote on is POTUS and look where that has gotten us.

Re: 545 vs. 300,000,000 People
I think we live in a world with the technology that we can be a true direct republic for the people and by the people.

We don't need to hire/elect someone to go to Washington to vote for us anymore. We have the technology to communicate and vote on our own. There are security risks that would have to be fixed to keep things honest, but seriously isn't it time to start voting for what we want directly instead of indirectly hoping someone will vote for what we want?

Perhaps any policy should be voted in referendum scenarios rather than electing a teeny minority that does not reflect the populous.

It will never happen of course, because then the 300million will not want to send troops abroad and would disagree with corporate policies and would probably prevent sewatshops and any form of exploitation, and would not need to be paid 3.5 times more than the average American, as senators are.

Re: 545 vs. 300,000,000 People
Why do these 545 people think it's better to kill than to love?

We are all people!

Free energy could be the worlds. Instead, the USA researches every way to make a buck in the wrong way. OIL...PAPER...GAS...ADDICTIVE PAINKILLERS....ECT.

Instead of researching WAR war war, all the time they could be researching peace, prosperity, and life, and love!

I propose that if ANY person wants to be elected to serve the people. They must not be associated with WAR in any way.

One word from them even suggesting war, or retaliation, or revenge, they should automatically be fired...fined...and lose any and all pensions, medical benefits, ect. They should be outcasts.

An elected official should have morals and common decency!

War has never made peace. Only helping your fellow man brings peace.

Look what surveillance in USA has done since 911. It has not stopped any terrorists. It has only shown the people of it's country that the government does not trust them. Which in turn has made the people NOT trust their government! It is showing more and more every day.

First it was stricter pat downs and metal detectors. Then x-ray machines and cavity searches. Now extended borders for the tsa to search it's own people hundreds of miles from the borders. Schools like prisons now with proposed guards with guns as of Obamas 23 bills today.!!!!!!!

Now you will have doctors pre screening you for your eligibility to own protection. ie guns. It never stops.

Now due to the mistrust of the government....these 545 people, you are going to see even more mistrust from the people they claim to be protecting. Lots of people are talking of revolutions. Some are saying they have drawn the line in the sand and one more step and they are gonna kill people.

Trust breeds trust. war breeds war. mistrust breeds mistrust. peace breeds peace. It's not a hard concept people!

Why do these 545 people always choose the wrong answer....EVERY TIME! Does creating more debt cure the old debt? NO. Does spending less and paying off debt cure debt. YES!

Other than the fact these 545 people are just in it for themselves and their masters, do they ever do anything to help anyone but themselves? NO So lets get rid of them right now!

I'm sorry, but as much as I agree with you on priciple, I have to disagree with you on conduct.

We have a sorry government, this is true. But damn it, it is the government we voted for. I didn't vote for it personally, but we did vote for it as a country.

Why is half of the population on welfare? Because they want to be on welfare! They want to sit back and collect and do nothing for it. They voted to continue it.

Why is half of the working class not working? Because they can NOT afford to work. They can get more by sitting on their asses and doing nothing.

All of the younger generations blame the Boomers for the huge governmental debt. The Boomers didn't do it. They saw what was happening and tried to change it, but the lazy ass assholes that think they should be given a free ride did everything they could do to shut them up. Now look at the whole problem.

Everyone says that it is the governments fault for giving us such a huge debt. The government can't do shit if they aren't in place to begin with. You want to lessen the government over-reach into your pockets and houses, then you have to over-vote the lazy assholes that don't want to work!

People should be rewarded with more pay for their contribution to society through work, less taxes and more residual income with lower priced goods and jobs that do not involve killing or destroying the planet.

These are some good ideas, and I watched a video called Thrive made by some bigwig from Procter and Gamble and his wife and they seem to be speaking sense, though I suppose they have some ulterior motive too, but is does make sense that we work in small communities and help each other...

Here is the vid for those interested in finding out more...

We don't vote for anything in this country. We are given two crappy choices and made to decide between the two, the rest is smoke and mirrors. Like a poster already said, open up the votes to everyone and let us vote on everything. we have the technology to achieve this. But the 545 in power don't want us to have a voice that is why everything they do is behind closed doors, and hidden from the public. They are afraid of us, we have no reason to be afraid of them.

People are on welfare because its there best option at survival and to feed there family. Its the system that has turned these people into slack asses. They were not given the hope or education to know how to better there lives. They system and the 545 created this mess to keep them in power and to keep us fighting with ourselves.

Dont blame the people on welfare, blame the welfare system. We need to use our time and money to educate these people and make there neighborhoods a better place so they take some pride in america and start calling it home like the rest of us.

545 vs. 300,000,000 People -By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The President does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits.. ( The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.)

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House?( John Boehner. He is the leader of the majority party. He and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. ) If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to. [The House has passed a budget but the Senate has not approved a budget in over three years. The President's proposed budgets have gotten almost unanimous rejections in the Senate in that time. ]

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.

If the Army & Marines are in Iraq and Afghanistan it's because they want them in Iraq and Afghanistan ..

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses. Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees... We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

You are missing a vital point. Governments are their own interest group. It exists by, of, and for itself. Not for the American people. Anything to the contrary is coincidental or simply a lie.

The point Charley Reese was making (or one of them) is that politicians are ELECTED because they make promises. They say this is what I will do if elected. Of course they are lying.

For example a politician will say I will put the money for social security into a lock box.

Then of course that never happens.

Just look at the obama lies/promises for a current example.

And then there were the tea party congress critters who voted for the NDAA.

Once they get in there they are corrupted and co opted. It isn't so much that people vote for these things as it is politicians create them in order to stay in power. It is in THEIR self interest ,not ours.

Re: 545 vs. 300,000,000 People
Way too many people are brainwashed and "for" the current system. They prefer a nanny state to freedom. When Obama won a second term I knew things would never be the same. The honest, hardworking, Christian types are now outnumbered and it's only going to get worse. Demographics are strongly against us.

Voting is totally worthless.

Boycotts of their sponsors are slightly less worthless, but ultimately we need "stuff."

The effective solutions are illegal to discuss.

Bottom line: we are slaves, serving selfish masters whose middle-men (the politicians) are neither responsible nor accountable for anthing done to us.

One of the best threads of GLP ever, period. And the text can apply to any country in the world.

Hats off to you sir. Please mods, let's keep this thread pinned.

No matter what our differences we need to admit that our Government is broken, out of control, and no longer responsive to the people !!!

We need to work together to JERK A KNOT in these fools asses.

We can sort out our differences AFTER we sort out our Government.

 Quoting: 071676

 Quoting: s. d. butler

Your words are wise.

Everything is done for the greater order of a new future, but at a political level, it is obviously self-interest which governs all.

This is exceedingly useful.

The work in New York is almost finished. It has been both time consuming and difficult, but there is much important work to do.
