Re: SATAN WANTS TO FUCK YOU UP:
I'll make a deal with you.

If they publicly release the body of Jesus I will consider "changing my ways"

Until then there is no proof of Jesus's existence.

Only stories, fables, and legends.

It's 2013 and not 825.

Get out of the dark ages.

And Shine

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph!

Another fucking shit for brains has defiled my Temple!

Listen dick breath, it is simple,

Look at the Message, NOT the messenger!

It is what Jesus said that was important, not his fucking body.

Help one another and love one another, that is the simple message.

Now what do you have a problem with in that message?

Tell me you DO NOT want to be loved,

and I will bring a world of Hate down on you.

Then You will learn how much more you want to be loved,

than hated.

Re: SATAN WANTS TO FUCK YOU UP:
Satan is just a one of the many synonyms, for heart, soul, subconscious. Adversary, the devil. etc, etc.

The battle is within. Against that prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience. Meaning you and me.

The minute we characterise Satan as anything other than the source of our own thoughts, feelings and especially imaginings, we've fucked up, well and truely.

Re: SATAN WANTS TO FUCK YOU UP:
How to get saved by prayer and understanding of Jesus Christ

Forget about any teaching or any Christian that may have wronged you or hurt you, go directly to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ right where you are today. Jesus Christ warned there would be false Christians, so do not hold against Jesus what false Christians have done in his name. Ask Jesus Christ to reveal himself to you by the power of his Wonderful Holy Spirit. You do not have to do anything except to ask him. DO NOT go to any Christian church unless the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ reveals to you where and when. The Holy Spirit knows who are the real Christians and who are false Christians. Trust the Holy Spirit to teach you once you begin experiencing his presence, his peace and his power. The scriptures declare that Kingdom of God is not just with words but also with power and joy in the Holy Spirit of God.

Now continuing concerning the Law of Moses and the ten commandments.

The Law of Moses is Holy as a schoolmaster until faith comes, but the Law of Moses does not save you. God's main purpose for the Law of Moses besides being guide of conduct and moral law is the uncovering of our absolute need for a savior and an intercessor but the law by itself saves no one, rather the law reveals sin and it's punishment according to God's standard. It's like the penalty phase in a courtroom after you are found guilty.

This is why the grace covenant paid for by Jesus is so important. The Book of Romans states, "When sin increases the grace increases all the more abundantly.” We are covered and washed by the blood of Jesus which was shed for us. This being done for us by Jesus Christ during our weakness, not during our strength, in other words if we could have done it on our then Jesus Christ would have never had to suffer and die to pay our price required by the Law of Moses. Jesus Christ took our place (the Law’s required death penalty for our sins) so the Law of Moses could be fulfilled and completed and a new covenant of grace by Jesus' finished work could be established.

GRACE DEFINED: Divine assistance given to man, or women, for their regeneration and sanctification, unmerited, pardon, a gift, a special favor, leniency, mercy.

Many Christians misunderstand the finished work of the Cross. This causes some of them to be judgmental, depressed and numerous other problems. They say they are saved by Jesus' grace but then they preach the Law of Moses as the way to attain righteousness. It's sort of like having the cart before the horse. Trusting in Jesus is not a faith that trusts in the Law of Moses for salvation. It is a faith that honors Jesus' work in fulfilling the law and for paying our price required by the law of Moses on our behalf. Trust Jesus' finished work not your own ability brothers and sisters this is the real Gospel, when Jesus said, "it is finished" one of the things Jesus was declaring is that he was establishing a new covenant of grace and righteousness by faith in that new covenant, not by the perfect works of keeping the law. "For it is written not one does good all have fallen short of the glory of God."

Paul and Timothy also reinforced this in their letters to the church. Paul said "Those of you who would be justified by the law you are fallen from grace." Timothy said, "Those of you who would keep the law (or be justified) but then breaks it even in one point, then this person would be guilty of breaking all of it. The point is this; Jesus knew we could never obey the law perfectly. This because of the inherited sin passed on to all from Adam's disobedience. God's grace is God's gift to each of us through the price paid by Jesus Christ on the cross. This increasing and amazing grace is given to us so we would not fall back in fear and doubt when we fall short, fail, sin or worse.

This liberty does not mean Jesus does not discipline those who intentionally misuse his grace. It's a heart thing and only Jesus knows our hearts well enough to judge us correctly. Sometimes the person who is sinning the worst is the one who loves God the most. They are trying so hard in their own strength and own effort to obey God yet still not understanding God's grace covenant correctly. The result of not understanding God's grace correctly is pain, fear, guilt, depression, anger. STOP TRYING to be perfect in your own strength and just seek Jesus as a child. Be honest with Jesus. He knows all your weaknesses and failures already. Jesus Christ knows you will have many weak moments as you grow in him that is what his amazing grace is all about.

An example of law and grace, Paul said when speaking on the rapture of the church, he said we would be changed in the twinkling of an eye. He then said; "Oh Death where is your victory, where is your sting, for death is swallowed up in victory, this of course by the blood of Jesus.

Let us remember what Paul says just after this. If you understand this, you will be blessed.

Paul said: "FOR THE POWER OF SIN IS THE LAW." Let me say that once again the power of sin is trying to be righteous by the law of Moses. You honor the Law of Moses by agreeing it shows you your sin and that it is holy for this purpose. But you glorify Jesus Christ when you accept his finished work on the cross for you by faith, that faith is this; "Jesus said it is finished" Jesus is saying. "I have finished paying for their sin required by the Law of Moses I judge them not, I have taken their death penalty in their place because I love them." Now you say amen and agree with Jesus and say also "It is finished" the one who loves me above all has paid my price and with a praise from the heart and your mouth, you thank the Lord Jesus for dying for you and your sin.

When you doubt Jesus' love when you have sinned or have had a weak moment after accepting Jesus, then you are not really trusting Jesus' finished work and love. You’re still trusting your ability to obey him in order to receive his love. Jesus loves you on your worst day trust his love and grace. Jesus did not die for you just so he could sit around and wait for you to sin again so he could judge you and punish you. NO! JESUS LOVES YOU! He died for all your sins past, present and future. Jesus gives you love, forgiveness and grace and he wants you to give the same to others even to those who reject Jesus. So love and love one another as he has loved you.

The Grace of God in Jesus Christ

Do you understand why Jesus said to judge not in the new covenant of his grace?

It is because he decided not to judge you according to the Law of Moses. Jesus rather than judge you by the law of Moses allowed himself to suffer the pain and the shame of the cross, then Jesus died for us in our place in order that the price and death penalty required by the Law of Moses could be paid in full. This so we could live as well as walk in his new covenant of his grace and all his promises. This includes miracle healing, deliverance, knowing his voice and his love and peace that surpasses knowledge.

Another important reminder about judging, Apostle Paul said "Who are we to judge outsiders, God judges the outsiders." Outsiders of course are those persons who do not yet believe in Jesus. When we judge outsiders Jesus disciplines us for not giving the same grace and forgiveness to them as he has given us.

Apostle Paul understood the law of God very well; he tried and tried to keep it after accepting Jesus. In the book of Romans Paul discusses his own experience. Most reading now should be able to relate to this same experience Apostle Paul had.

* Paul said in Romans, "Every time I try to do the good that I want (Trying to keep the law of Moses)
* I do the very thing that I hate. Wretched man that I am who will deliver me from this body of Death. But thanks be to God, through our Lord Jesus Christ."

Paul declares that law was given to increase the trespass, and that through it sin would become utterly sinful. Why, because the law is holy, but we in our physical nature are not. We are unable to obey it perfectly no matter how hard we try.

So the law is holy and good because it reveals to us what is good and that it's impossible to obey it perfectly without Jesus' grace, love and power. Remember to keep the law perfectly you must also in effect die, the law of God says all who have fallen short must suffer the penalty of the law. This penalty is death, with no wiggle room.

This is also why Jesus died for us, not just to take our sins, but to pay the just requirement of God's law which is the death penalty. Jesus willing took our place, because he loves us all so much.
The law of God always causes one of two things, it causes a person to either seek after God, or it cause's a person to rebel because they find it impossible for them to keep the law. This is where most nonbelievers become confused or angry with God. They hear those that profess to be Christians saying, Do! Do! Do! or else, keep the law of Moses or go to hell. They say; "Quit this, stop doing that, come only to this denomination, give 10 percent and give that 10 percent only to us and so on and so on. That is not the truth, or real Christianity. Jesus said just come, come as you are. You do not try to clean up your own life, or change before you come, you just come to Jesus as you are and you ask him to help you believe. That's it, Jesus does all the rest, either at that very moment, or at a time in the future.

Please do not misunderstand, there are still many wonderful churches with real believers, but there are also those DO, DO, DO, or else churches as well. Stay away from the DO, DO, or else churches. However do pray for them that Jesus would correct them.

Current nonbelievers reading, you never need to set a foot inside any church to be saved by Jesus Christ. All you need to understand and know is that Jesus Christ is the one God sent to pay your price, and know that God raised him from the dead. But to be honest, to really know this is true you need to be touched by the Holy Spirit. You need to ask God in Jesus' name to give you the GIFT of faith. When the Holy Spirit touches you powerfully and tangibly that gift of faith will be given.

A true story about a miracle given to a man who had NO real faith.

Many years ago according to the Bible, a man came to Jesus on the behalf of his son. This man asked Jesus for a miracle for his son and Jesus asked the man if he believed. This man however decided that honesty with Jesus about his unbelief was the best policy, so he said, "Jesus I believe but please help me with my unbelief." In other words this man wanted to believe but he was being honest with Jesus saying that he really did not believe. This man had no real faith. He had heard of Jesus and the miracles but he was not sure they were real, for he had not seen them for himself. This man thought within himself that if he lied to Jesus and said he believed when he did not, then if Jesus was the real thing then a lie that might prevent a miracle, a miracle his son needed so badly.

So this man gave a religious response that he thought Jesus would want to hear and then added his complete honesty and asked for help with his unbelief. That honest help request was good enough for Jesus and Jesus healed that man's son with a powerful miracle. Had this man given only a religious response to Jesus' question, then that miracle might not have occurred. Through that miracle to this man's son, this man of unbelief was given the gift of real faith. The Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ will give you the miracles and the power to believe, if you will ask him to help you understand and believe. If any person tells you that you did not have enough faith to receive a miracle, then remember this man who admitted he had no faith yet was still able to receive by asking for help. Humility is the key, but sometimes Jesus has a perfect time as well. If you do not receive a miracle when you first ask, fear not ask again and ask the Holy Spirit to help you to understand whatever in your case Jesus would have the Holy Spirit teach you. So in Jesus' name ask for the Holy Spirit's help and fear not.

Remember real salvation in Jesus Christ is always personal and private. Seek Jesus even if you feel like your only talking to thin air. Say Jesus if you’re really the truth help me believe, that's the best I can do today. I promise you if you do, sooner or later that air you feel silly talking to will be filled with such power and love that you can feel, you will have a hard time speaking because of Jesus' awesome presence and love. When it happens and it will happen suddenly, your doubt will melt away like ice cream in a hot Las Vegas desert. On that day you will be forever changed and forever grateful.

Now lets talk some a little more about Jesus' grace and how some Christians get confused and fearful after sinning, or backsliding during a person’s weak moments in their walk.

When a new Christian receives Jesus, their burden is lifted, sin is washed and they feel brand new. Many call this the first love experience in Jesus, it's Wonderful to say the very least. But as time goes by some weakness, or sin, or bondage resurfaces in their lives. Then we try to repent of it, we ask, we pray, we beg and of course we feel so terrible and guilty, the harder we try, the worse it gets. We say Oh Jesus I'm sorry, I won't do it again please forgive me. Then we go on for a little while and sure enough in most cases it happens again. Now we are feeling torn and separated from Jesus' Holy Spirit, and even worse in some cases the heart starts to grow cold, sometimes angry then sin gets worse and worse.

Do you see how God's holy law works, it makes sure we are all put to death in our own righteousness and ability. The law of God always will crucify you until you truly understand Jesus' covenant of grace properly. And of course after the law has put you to death, immediately as you die (Your ability spiritually speaking) Jesus then keeps his promise and does for you, what you could not. Jesus makes you alive in him again and his covenant of grace and all his promises.

Jesus always starts when we are finished in our own strength and ability. This is why Paul said, "Through the Law I died to the law, that I might live to God." Of course Paul was speaking of faith in Jesus' finished work, but Paul knew for sure he could never attain righteousness by the law. Walk by the Spirit of grace, not the letter of the Law.

It's very important that all Christians stop trying to please Jesus in their own ability, Jesus will never accept it no matter how good the intentions. If you’re in caught in any type of sin or bondage, you will NEVER be free by your own effort. At best you might be able to stop for a while but sooner or later if it's only your ability and not Jesus', you will surely fall back into whatever that bondage or weakness might be.

You must understand all deliverance, healing, restoration is having faith in Jesus' finished work. By Jesus' stripes we are healed. It is never by our own stripes or our good works, neither is it by our church's good work nor even our pastor's good works, it is always and only by Jesus' finished work on the Cross.

Jesus loves you on your worst day my brothers and sisters not just your good days. When I am weak Jesus is strong Paul declared. God makes perfect in weakness. Sometimes Jesus allows you to fall into the trap of legalism or some sin. Sometimes he even leaves you there for a while. Why? So when he delivers you and heals you can truly understand Jesus' saying "He, or she that is forgiven much, loves much. Those that are forgiven only a little, love only a little." So you might come to know the height, the breath and the depth of the love of God in Christ Jesus that surpasses knowledge.

Jesus said to judge not and you will not be judged, forgive and you will be forgiven. Jesus was not just teaching this because it is just good sense, he said it to protect us.

If your going to stand as a judge in the Law, even though you are saved by grace then when you judge a nonbeliever you also judge yourself back into condemnation and the law. Jesus made it clear, JUDGE NOT. Now when we make this mistake God's mercy and grace is still with us, but his discipline will begin to work in our lives.

The law by which we judged others will now come to bear against us until we are put to death again by it. This is a very painful place to be but this death process through the Law when completed allows Jesus to restore us to his blessings of Grace when we have repented. Repenting to what? Jesus taught us to love, forgive and to judge not, especially toward our enemies. To trust Jesus' grace and his finished work.

Jesus gives us more grace when we fail like this but he allows things to touch our lives to discipline us. He works all things to the good for those who love him and he disciplines all those called by his name. Sometimes that discipline hurts. We must love all brothers and sisters, even our enemies as Jesus taught. If we don't then we are not only breaking the lesser commandments of the old testament, but we are breaking the greatest new commandment Jesus gave to his twelve disciples and of course to us. Jesus commanded, "LOVE ONE ANOTHER." This is how the world will know you are my disciples. Apostle Paul taught about judgment within the church, and correction within the church, however Paul's teachings were never to override what Jesus taught and commanded of his real believers. Besides Apostle Paul never meant for his teachings concerning judgment regarding error, or sin within the church, to be applied to nonbelievers or outsiders. In fact Paul himself taught that the church is not allowed to judge outsiders, for God judges the nonbeliever.

If you’re a Christian that is struggling in these things or some sin, or are back slidden, listen to me please. Jesus Christ is closer than your next breath by the power of his Holy Spirit. I MEAN RIGHT NOW !! I don't care if God seems a million miles away. God's Holy Spirit is right there with you right now. Please listen to me carefully, Jesus humbly I ask you to give them the ability to hear their brother who has been through this. Let them know I am telling them the truth, your truth Lord Jesus.

Brothers and sisters restoration is exactly like your salvation. You come with your weaknesses, your failures and your sins. You bring everything to Jesus except your ability and good works, there is nothing you can give Jesus that he does not already own, except one thing, your sins.

Jesus loves you, no matter what, its not silver vessels that he needs, it not golden vessels that he wants, but yielded vessels, trusting his grace and his love no matter what.

Ask Jesus from your heart in your own way,

Lord Jesus, forgive me I have sinned over and over and I may even do it again tomorrow. I don't want to be this way, I wnat to love you Jesus if your real, help me with my unbelief, help me surrender and trust your grace when I am weak, give me an increase in faith. Jesus right now I don't need theology, or religion, I need only you Lord Jesus. I can only understand your grace and faith to the level I know it this day. But you can teach me you can write it fresh in my heart. I cannot depend on anyone Jesus except you, others cannot always be with me to help but you can Lord Jesus, help me lean on you and trust your promises and love.

Re: SATAN WANTS TO FUCK YOU UP:
That is great ! We come in naked we go out naked but it depends how well your character is moulded, that might just save you. The worst is to be deceived by Satan, that is why I responded to the above title, Satan has no claim on anyone as he was defeated at the cross when Jesus rose up from the dead that does not mean you can go through life as you please, there is a Gospel procedure to follow. Don't get confused with the incorrect "Christian" doctrine that contaminated the world after Christ, as that is designed by Satan so you can walk straight into hell blindly. Take note, there is a false Christian vine and a true one, Satan is extremely religious he knows the Bible better than anyone and is able to manipulate it in any way, shape and form, how many Christian sects are there in this world, thousands and it is all Satan's doing. Satan cannot ruin your life if you stay in God's Word because you would be protected and you would overcome, if your soul is prepared to meet The Lord then there are no worries, most of it is common sense and nature, but without knowing pure unadulterated doctrine the journey of mistakes is very long, and this can be short circuited by understanding that God only speaks to His chosen prophets so His Word can remain absolutely spotless without any corruption, this way the correct interpretation reaches the people and peace is attained very quickly. Maybe you are seeing things from the perspective of the false jesus prescribed to the human race by Lucifer, I am not seeing it from that perspective at all. If God is real then there should be no confusion, but not to believe is just plain foolish, you must seek and you will find. No person needs to go lost, but by their own will it is a very foolish thing and Satan can lead you into that trap. Don't allow it for your soul's sake.

You know threads like this fucking piss me off.

I spent years drawing attention to myself,

Then I brought all that attention right here to GLP.

Why? So the whole world can see what a fucked up mess we have become.

And, to show the way out of the shit hole.

Yet every time I come on here it is the same ole shit.

Why?

Because you idiots want to keep making Life harder than it is.

It is very simple, within each of us is a little piece of that being known as God.

Now if you do not love that person who is carrying that little piece of God, well God gets pissed.

And God can fuck you up through a five year old!

So Love one another.

Love one another as if the whole world depends on it.

You are going to need to eat, and water you will need to drink.

All of this is PROVIDED for YOU.

Take care of it.

Netanyahu asks Kissinger for advice on 'historic peace'
By JPOST.COM STAFF

11/11/2010 09:32

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met with former American secretary of state Henry Kissinger on Wednesday night.

"You helped to advance agreements that led to the historic peace with Egypt. It is likely that you have good advice on how to advance a similar goal today," Netanyahu said.

He added that he plans to discuss with US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton "ways to achieve a peace agreement based on a broad understanding with the Palestinian people and perhaps with additional Arab states as well, an agreement based on security, which will give clear answers to Israel's security needs. We have broad understandings with the US on this issue, as on many others; they overcome the disagreements on other topics."

Barack Obama's inner Kissinger

[link to www.theatlantic.com]

In that intra-cranial showdown, it now appears that it is the "hard" side, the perceived necessity of setting aside one's empathies, that has captured Barack Obama's thinking.

Obama's "Kissinger" revealed itself first when his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton went to China and declared that bringing up the unpleasantness of Chinese human rights violations would serve no useful purpose and detract from the importance of finding common ground with Beijing on various international concerns ranging from trade to climate change to North Korean nuclear weaponry (this from a woman who once went to China to protest its discriminatory policies toward women).

Our hearts may have wanted to protest the suppression of freedoms, say a word for Tibet, complain about the treatment of Uighurs, but the Administration decided it needed China for other things of more immediate concern to us. That has since been followed by a retreat from our previous confrontational approach toward Sudan where Obama now envisions a more positive policy of engagement with a government whose president has been indicted by the International Criminal Court for atrocities in Darfur.

There is no bottom-line conclusion here: in a presidency that is so young, one cannot know whether the soft line taken toward China, Sudan, Russia, and other violators of human liberties will in the end dominate Mr. Obama's foreign policy decisions. But neither can the early signs be ignored. For the moment, it appears, Henry Kissinger is back.

Henry Kissinger influence on Barrack Obama

[link to www.examiner.com]

President Obama's National Security Advisor, General Jim Jones (USMC ret.) made a very curious comment at the 45th Munich Conference on Security Policy in Germany. He said:

Thank you for that wonderful tribute to Henry Kissinger yesterday. Congratulations. As the most recent National Security Advisor of the United States, I take my daily orders from Dr. Kissinger, filtered down through General Brent Scowcroft and Sandy Berger, who is also here."

Jones' comment appeared to be an unsuccessful attempt at dry humor – only a few in the audience actually laughed – in acknowledging Dr Henry Kissinger's enormous influence in U.S. foreign policy which had been acknowledged a day earlier with a prestigious award. Many, however, immediately viewed Jones' comment as an unguarded admission of who really is in charge of U.S. policy. Jones comment raises two serious questions. How much influence does Kissinger exert over the Obama administration and the policy making process? Furthermore, what influence does Kissinger have over U.S. policy on UFOs and extraterrestrial life?

Kissinger's influential role in setting U.S. foreign policy is generally viewed as starting with his role as President Nixon's National Security Advisor in 1969 during the Vietnam War. Kissinger's role in steering U.S. policy, and his failed efforts to bring an end to the Vietnam war have led to many criticisms against him. The most controversial is Kissinger's role in the failure of President Johnson's peace efforts during the final months of his administration in 1968. Released Presidential tapes reveal that Johnson concluded that Nixon's associates were engaging in treason. Kissinger's covert activities during both the 1968 Presidential campaign and later as National Security Advisor has led to accusations that he unnecessarily prolonged the Vietnam War for political gain.

Kissinger's influence over U.S. foreign policy, however, dates from much earlier than the Vietnam War. His influence dates from experiences in Germany during World War II when he was part of the Army's Counterintelligence Corps, and helped identify Nazi scientists familiar with advanced technologies of interest to the U.S. Some of the Nazi scientists retrieved in Operation Paperclip were directly involved in advanced technological projects that according to the father of modern rocketry, Hermann Oberth, had been assisted by knowledge of extraterrestrial life and technology. He said:

… we cannot take credit for our record advancement in certain scientific fields alone. We have been helped." When asked by whom, he replied, "the peoples of other worlds."

Lt Col Philip Corso, who was in charge of the Foreign Technology Desk at Army Research and Development branch (1961-1963), confirmed that Nazi Germany had retrieved and developed extraterrestrial technologies. In a July 1997 interview he said:

There were crashes elsewhere, and they [the Germans] gathered material too. The Germans were working on it. They didn't solve the propulsion system. They did a lot of experiments on flying saucers. They had one that went up to 12,000 feet. But where all, we and they, missed out was on the guidance system. In R&D we began to realize that this being [an ET] was part of the guidance system, part of the apparatus himself, or itself, as it had no sexual organs."

HENRY KISSINGER QUOTES

“World population needs to be decreased by 50%”

The longer I am out of office, the more infallible I appear to myself. - Henry Kissinger

The illegal we do immediately. The unconstitutional takes a little longer. - Henry Kissinger New York Times, Oct. 28, 1973

Depopulation should be the highest priority of foreign policy towards the third world, because the US economy will require large and increasing amounts of minerals from abroad, especially from less developed countries”. Henry Kissinger

“Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac,” and “The elderly are useless eaters” - Henry Kissinger

"Military men as "dumb, stupid animals to be used" as pawns for foreign policy."- Henry Kissinger

This quote just above was reported in "The Final Days", Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein

It was said by Kissinger in front of Alexander Haig, newly appointed White House chief of staff, in Haig new office in 1973

Quote:
....
In Haig's presence, Kissinger referred pointedly to military men as "dumb, stupid animals to be used" as pawns for foreign policy. Kissinger often took up a post outside the doorway to Haig's office and dressed him down in front of the secretaries for alleged acts of incompetence with which Haig was not even remotely involved. Once when the Air Force was authorized to resume bombing of North Vietnam, the planes did not fly on certain days because of bad weather. Kissinger assailed Haig. He complained bitterly that the generals had been screamin for the limits to be taken off but that now their pilots were afraid to go up in a little fog. The country needed generals who could win battles, Kissinger said, not good briefers like Haig.
.........
[paragraph]
On another occasion, when Haig was leaving for a trip to Cambodia to meet with Premier Lon Nol, Kissinger escorted him to a staff car, where reporters and a retinue of aides waited. As Haig bent to get into the automobile, Kissinger stopped him and began polishing the single star on his shoulder. "Al, if you're a good boy, I'll get you another one," he said.

There is much controversy over attempts to defend Henry Kissinger in the wake of revelations that he said the use of gas chambers to exterminate Jews was not “an American concern”. He was not just making a statement about past atrocities, and the ethical underpinnings of what should motivate diplomatic or military action; he was in fact suggesting to Pres. Nixon that if the Soviet Union, from which Jews were emigrating in large numbers, were to commence a new genocide, it would be of no concern to the US.

Specifically, Kissinger said “The emigration of Jews from the Soviet Union is not an objective of American foreign policy,” adding, incredibly: “And if they put Jews into gas chambers in the Soviet Union, it is not an American concern. Maybe a humanitarian concern.” The ideas behind this sentiment are so outrageous, on so many levels, I think it’s worth exploring why no one, anywhere, should just write them off as some kind of poor choice of words.

Henry Kissinger was advising the president of the United States at the time on matters of national security and crucial Cold War diplomacy. The very first suggestion that emerges from his remark is that it would literally be of no interest to the United States whether its arch rival were to carry out a mass killing of an ethnic group the United States had fought a very long and destructive war to save from such extermination, with that arch rival as its ally.

This is an outrageous oversimplification, of the kind that only bigots and executioners are capable, and a wholesale dismissal of the most basic moral values of any democratic society. One wonders what, if anything, Kissinger might think would be of significant enough outrage to concern the American security establishment. Is the distinction between “American” and “humanitarian” some kind of suggestion that the United States does not support humanitarian interests? It might be, given the record of one Henry Kissinger.

Christopher Hitchens has taken on Kissinger’s record at Slate.com, stating the problem as follows:

So our culture has once again suffered a degradation by the need to explain away the career of this disgusting individual. And what if we did, indeed, accept the invitation to “remember the context of his entire life”? Here’s what we would find: the secret and illegal bombing of Indochina, explicitly timed and prolonged to suit the career prospects of Nixon and Kissinger. The pair’s open support for the Pakistani army’s 1971 genocide in Bangladesh, of the architect of which, Gen. Yahya Khan, Kissinger was able to say: “Yahya hasn’t had so much fun since the last Hindu massacre.”

Once again, the inflammatory and ridiculous defense of such remarks tends to be that these were guys talking the way guys talk, with a dark humor about dark things and that their intense disapproval of those dark things doesn’t come through, because the audience is not nuanced enough to understand that these were great humanitarians. But… Secretary Kissinger distinguishes between “American concern” (his job) and “humanitarian concern” (apparently, the job of his critics).

Are we to believe that any sane person would want the American people to view the thought processes of such a disastrously misspoken individual as some sort of behind-the-scenes comedy routine necessary to framing an eloquent defense of the values of American democracy? Are we to believe that Kissinger is uniquely allowed to make jokes about genocide, because in 1938 the Kissinger family fled Nazi persecution to come to the United States?

These are open questions, and anyone serious about honoring the tragedy that occurred under the Nazis, or the grave humanitarian disasters of other genocides, in Bangladesh, in East Timor, in Bosnia, or Rwanda or the DR Congo, has to honestly treat them as such. It is baffling and disturbing that someone like Henry Kissinger would adopt a posture so flip and so callous toward the most evil of all possible crimes, and it cannot be of little psychological significance.

Hitchens goes on to detail Kissinger’s sordid past:

Kissinger’s long and warm personal relationship with the managers of other human abattoirs in Chile and Argentina, as well as his role in bringing them to power by the covert use of violence. The support and permission for the mass murder in East Timor, again personally guaranteed by Kissinger to his Indonesian clients. His public endorsement of the Chinese Communist Party’s sanguinary decision to clear Tiananmen Square in 1989. His advice to President Gerald Ford to refuse Alexander Solzhenitsyn an invitation to the White House (another favor, as with spitting on Soviet Jewry, to his friend Leonid Brezhnev). His decision to allow Saddam Hussein to slaughter the Kurds after promising them American support. His backing for a fascist coup in Cyprus in 1974 and then his defense of the brutal Turkish invasion of the island. His advice to the Israelis, at the beginning of the first intifada, to throw the press out of the West Bank and go for all-out repression. His view that ethnic cleansing in former Yugoslavia was something about which nothing could be done. Forget the criminal aspect here (or forget it if you can). All those policies were also political and diplomatic disasters.

In fact, for a diplomat, the number of very bloody atrocities for which he has expressed something like approval or indifference is shocking. He is not, we might remember, a diplomat brokering deals between medieval warlords; he is a diplomat working in the UN age, with the specific purpose of preventing atrocity and war. He is a diplomat who is supposed to have, as part of his pedigree of Holocaust escapee and American statesman, a profound interest in “humanitarian concern”, but who seems, consistently, to have none.

To offer a little context, for the sake of fairness: Henry Kissinger was doing very difficult work at one of the thorniest times in world history, when a wrong move could have, in theory, led to worldwide nuclear war. Some would say that any of the political leaders and diplomats who served at this time, on either side, served admirably, if only because that war never happened. But we know from incidents like the Cuban missile crisis that sometimes the only reason conflict is averted is because one or two top decision-makers steadfastly refuse to start a war.

Was the often brutal “realpolitik” of Henry Kissinger the only possible way to achieve détente with the Soviet Union? Maybe. Certainly, Kissinger and his defenders will always make this claim. Was the tacit approval of or even support for atrocities the only way light could prevail over total darkness in the conflict between liberty and totalitarianism? Again, Kissinger and his defenders will say yes, of course; that’s what he meant all along.

The truth is: there is no way for any serious diplomat or political leader, with an ounce of basic human decency, to approve of genocide, to turn a blind eye to cruel atrocities, or to support fascist paramilitaries and the slaughter of dissenters. Henry Kissinger has, at least by his words, done all of these things. Again, if we turn to Hitchens, the pull-no-punches analyst points out, “We possess a remarkably complete record of all this, in and out of office, most of it based solidly on U.S. government documents.”

Hitchens really is as unforgiving as he can be, probably because he feels there is a moral imperative to be this way with someone with Kissinger’s record, observing “how often the cables and minutes show him displaying a definite relish for the business of murder and dictatorship”. Is Henry Kissinger guilty of all these crimes, both of conscience and of actual participation? It seems history will eventually let slip the truth, in one or another cable or recording to emerge from the Classified: Top Secret vault of Cold War dealings, but for now, it remains a matter of conscience. How far can one man go and still hold a dignified place in public life?

It is instructive to note, as one often does with young children whose sense of moral convention is not yet fully formed, how Kissinger has said his feelings are hurt by the way his remarks are received, and not by the fact that he actually made these appalling statements. As if to say, I’m sorry you are distressed by my argument that the mass slaughter of innocents is not against our nation’s values, and that I said this in your name, he seems to argue that because he hit on the perfect excuse —”realpolitik”—, he had carte blanche to make that argument and that it amounts to honorable service.

I do not accept this. And I don’t think that anyone who cares about preventing genocide, rolling back the historical influence of prejudice and hatred, or reducing the power of fascists and hate-mongers, could accept it either. Where realpolitik serves to justify atrocities, it is not politics at all, but a way of giving cover to evil. Consider that whether Kissinger were a genius or not, the premise that adopting a posture of realpolitik allows him some sort of privileged view of world affairs already smacks of flippancy and moral bankruptcy: realism operates on the assumption that one can know all facts without error and accurately predict future outcomes.

Henry Kissinger is just as guilty as any other self-appointed “realist” of refusing to confess to his own intellectual limitations and boldly and unjustifiably making claims on future knowledge he cannot in fact have. This is the fallacy of realism, and the sinister deviation that underlies the kind of dismissal of genocide we have heard from Mr. Kissinger. The false pretense commonly referred to as realism allows people with sinister views to cloak those views in a veil of clarity.

But the truth is no less clouded for that charade. I propose we ask ourselves, seriously, and with the proper amount of human empathy: is Henry Kissinger’s problem a pathological absence of empathy of any kind, perhaps so extreme that he could fail to see how remarks such as these defame and threaten even his own relatives, his parents who rescued him from evil, and his own Earthly self? It must be within the realm of possibility, because so many far more absurd defenses have been put forward as to why we should accept his disgusting suggestion that genocide be of no concern to the United States.

There are a lot of things Henry Kissinger needs to apologize to the American people for, but for now, those of us who care what values our nation was built on, and what it is our loved ones fight for and defend, must tolerate a media climate where Henry Kissinger’s embrace of mass atrocity is written off as just a footnote to a crazy time. One wonders: will this man ever have the fortitude to stand in front of the American people, and the world, and apologize for the many ways in which he has defamed and degraded our “humanitarian concern” or condoned or supported acts of atrocity, in service to his pretense to “realism”?

Kissinger Associates

Kissinger Associates, Inc., founded in 1982, is a New York City-based international consulting firm, founded and run by Henry Kissinger. The firm assists its clients in identifying strategic partners and investment opportunities, and advises clients on government relations throughout the world.

History

The firm was founded in 1982 by Henry Kissinger.
In 1999, Mack McLarty joined Kissinger to open Kissinger McLarty Associates, the firm’s office on Eighteenth and Pennsylvania streets in Washington, D.C. McLarty was White House Chief of Staff under Bill Clinton. Kissinger McLarty is a corporate member of the Council of the Americas, the New York-based business organization established by David Rockefeller in 1965. As of January 2008, the two firms have separated and McLarty Associates, headed by Mack McLarty, is an independent firm based in Washington.
Kissinger Associates is located in River House on Park Avenue at Fifty-first Street, in a building also occupied by Peter Peterson’s Blackstone Group. It was established in July, 1982 after loans had been secured from Goldman Sachs and a consortium of three other banks. These loans were paid out in two years; by 1987 annual revenues had reached $5 million. Associated organizations and individuals
Kissinger Associates has strategic alliances with several firms, including:
* APCO Worldwide, formed October 12, 2004

Client base

Kissinger Associates does not disclose its list of corporate clients, and reportedly bars clients from acknowledging the relationship. However, over time details from proxy statements and the tendency of senior businessmen to talk about their relationship with Kissinger have leaked out and a number of major corporate clients have been identified.
The secrecy of their corporate client list has caused problems where Kissinger or a member of his staff were called to public service. In 1989, George H.W. Bush nominated Lawrence Eagleburger as his Deputy Secretary of State. Congress required that Eagleburger disclose the names of 16 clients, some of which were his through his Kissinger Associates affiliation. Later, Kissinger himself was appointed chairman of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States by George W. Bush. Congressional Democrats insisted that Kissinger disclose the names of clients. Kissinger and President Bush claimed that such disclosures were not necessary, but Kissinger ultimately stepped down, citing conflicts of interest.
