Christians and Jewish people - please make sense of this for me!
Isaiah 52:12 For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.

The Jewish bible quotes it as ...

Isaiah 52:12 For ye shall not go out in haste, neither shall ye go by flight; for HaShem will go before you, and the G-d of Israel will be your rearward.

Who is HaShem or Lord?

The above seems to say he is different from the God of Israel

Do you think this refers to Jesus?

That's what I thought but in this verse clearly Hashem or the lord is someone different from the God of Israel.

Re: Christians and Jewish people - please make sense of this for me!
The next chapter is clearly speaking of Jesus and this servant (Jesus) is spoken of here too.

The Suffering and Glory of the Servant

Isaiah 52:12 But you will not leave in haste or go in flight; for the Lord will go before you, the God of Israel will be your rear guard.

13 See, my servant will act wisely; he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.

14 Just as there were many who were appalled at him - his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man and his form marred beyond human likeness—

15 so will he sprinkle many nations, and kings will shut their mouths because of him. For what they were not told, they will see,and what they have not heard, they will understand.

Then read the next chapter all Christian's seem to agree it refers to Jesus. The servant from above ^^^

I am he.

If you have been following my work here,

It is a fulfillment of this prophecy.

The God of Israel is the One true God, and I am his word.

The Jews do not have to prove their God, I will prove him by my Word.

Follow me and see.

Re: Christians and Jewish people - please make sense of this for me!
The numerous names for God have been a source of debate among biblical scholars. Elohim (god, or authority, plural form), El (mighty one), El Shaddai (almighty), Adonai (master), Elyon (highest), Avinu (our father), are regarded by many religious Jews not as names, but as titles highlighting different aspects of YHWH and the various 'roles' of God.

Adonai (master) means HaShem or Lord.

It is common Jewish practice to restrict the use of the word Adonai to prayer only. In conversation, some Jewish people, even when not speaking Hebrew, will call God HaShem, , which is Hebrew for "the Name"

But this passage clearly shows HaShem or Lord to be a servant.

Surely this passage then clearly states Jesus was a servant, not the lord, if Lord and HaShem both mean God and he is referred to as servant.

Because the servant is Jesus, not doubt about that.

Matthew 8:17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

This refers to this passage in Isaiah, which thus identifies Jesus as the servant.

Isaiah 53:4 Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted.

Most importantly, God is clearly not the servant, so how can Jesus be God?
