When 60-70% of deliveries are medicaid paid. You know there's a problem. And yes, that is the case at the local hospital here. What's even more disturbing is that out of the 30-40% remainder, almost half are "birthing tourists" coming here to have anchor babies. |

The reimbursements are much larger, for the same service, if you are a big urban hospital. Much smaller if you are a rural hospital. Makes no sense at all, unless they want to kill small local hospitals and force everyone into big urban HIV-treatment center teaching hospitals. |

But of course Obama used the crisis, not to fix the crisis, but as a lever to get his Communist system installed and very difficult to get rid of in the future. Once there are Electronic Health Records, can you undo it?? 1)Doctors in the US work more hours than other doctors in other countries. 2)Doctors in the US are subject to lawsuits that are worse than any other country. The average PCP makes about 120-140k a year. Their work hours are in the range of 60-80/week. For the same amount of education + training, (4 years college, 4 years medical school, 3 years of internship+residency = 11 years), you can get a degree in another field and make more money per hour with less risk of law suits. In the end, not everyone goes into medicine to make money and although there are fields that make a lot of money, i.e. neurosurgery or ortho spine fields - they also carry the most training and the most risk. Doctor's salaries have been stagnant for several years and that's because doctors have been working more hours to maintain their pay. However, more and more physicians can't take the overhead and are being employed by hospitals than can better absorb that overhead with their staff and offices.
