so we have 5 eqs in the past hour in the city of los angeles including a 3.1.
la gets them now and then, but not 5 in a row.
all day yesterday on the news they kept saying
"what about the eq in ca?" when they talked about
the hurricane sandy relief fund.

now here it comes....

It does sound like it is something to be wary of. Also be aware that the earthquake sites change the name of the area of the quake. Like instead of greater Los Amgeles may be they say near yipyip california. They move up and down the fault but it is the same swarm.
People in the region should be prepared for the big one. Just silly not to be.

so you probably wouldn't think Northridge was "part"
of Los Angeles either right? but the 6.9 Northridge Quake we had a few years ago fucked EVERYTHING up in LA all the way down to long beach! i lived at the beach for that one and my and my mom's houses were both seriously damaged(and we lived more than 50 miles from the epicenter), the Broadway Dept store in Century City collapsed, the freeways were totally destroyed, apartment buildings fell down, people were killed, parking structures collapsed....

these new quakes might be on the "fringes" of los angeles,
but close enough to cause some serious damage to the city!

Your right, the 6.9 in the Santa Susanna mts was kinda hairy and a 6.5 in Santa Monica was recorded right after but where I used to live in Whittier felt the same intensity as the Whittier quake which was supposed to be 5.9. There are so many faults around this immediate area that are capable of 7+ . I am more concerned with Cajon and Tejon areas which are capable of 8 and some off shore faults as well. Incidentally a friends son worked at usgs at the time of the Northridge quake and immediately after the quake they were told to go home and all data was cut off, estimates of that quake were really 7.2 7.4

Though yeah... Redlands is out by the faultlines in the IE... that's not so strange really. a 1.8 within fifteen minutes of LA though is a bit stranger. but not unheard of. why doesn't anything ever happen up this way >.< Ever since the last one I was in back in 94 I've been waiting for another opportunity to surf the land waves lol

You wtfing the removal of objects that'd hit him on the head? or wtfing the quakes? Cuz I'd say you haven't been through a quake with enough force to knock crap around and down if you're surprised at taking things down from high precarious places in the event of one
