AMERICANS Newsflash We have guns in Canada and plenty of em
I see a lot of posts on here about how we are unarmed, and that there is strict gun control, blah blah blah. Bottom line is that we have tons of firearms here, including some that are banned in the US. Ar 15s and there variants are plentiful here. The only ones that they have a hate on for are AK's,HK's and uzis which are available only to a select few.

50 cal sniper rifles
semi auto .50 BMG
All manners of pistol, semi auto
All kinds of assault rifles
semi auto shotguns

and for those who have the proper licence
everything known to man, including tommy guns, full auto gucci guns, etc.

Bottom line is that Canada is hardly unarmed. if you are lucky enough to go way up north, you are also allowed to carry pistols. Driving around with a shotgun is not a big deal either, if that is your bag.

Hope this clarifies things for you.

We have heavy magazine restrictions.

Gun length restrictions.

No concealed carry.

You need too pass a special course to own a handgun and can only fire it at a gun club or range.

If you shoot a trespasser in Canada you will most likely go too jail for a long time.

There are more BS laws but I can't think of them right now.

Do you have an AK leaning against the wall of your office with loaded mags on your desk like me, and a Smith and Wesson 38spcl (loaded) in your desk drawer, or do you have to keep your guns locked up or at a secure facility. Can you go about your everyday activities with a .380 pistol in an ankle holster?

Re: AMERICANS Newsflash We have guns in Canada and plenty of em
I keep my guns in an american made 1000 lb gun safe that looks like it was made in the 1800's but is a work of art.

And because I live in the country / rural; I keep a rifle with the loaded magazine beside it incase of coyotes getting near my small children. 100% legal!

My profession sends me way up north doing geology in remote areas so I am allowed pistols and various other restricted weapons because when in the bush you can't have a giant rifle / shotgun getting stuck in the trees, snagging branches while you defend yourself from wolves, bob cats, cougars, mountain lions, giant lynx, bears, possible sasquatch (lol), and remote native tribes that see a white guy and shoot him, leaving him in the bog where no one shall ever see of him again.

P.S. just becasue Ottawa declares certain "tools" to be illegal, doesn't mean that every farmer in Canukistan doesn't still have them stashed in the barn, or burried in oil soaked rags and air tight containers, for just incase.

I've seen armies of bad guys with uzis and AKs, so what?

If the gun laws permit you to carry a CZ-858, an M1 Garand, an M-14, an SKS, or a semi-automatic variant of the AR-15, Galil, etc., what difference does it make if only outlaws posess AKs?

That's cuz you live in Canada where the most common enemy is an animal that's generally more afraid of you than you are of it.

I thought the rule was to keep the ammo separate. Personally I keep the bolt for the .303 in my pocket and the rifle in the gun rack, in home or vehicle same rule applies. the clip is in a close by location.

I shit you not.

(in part)
During those years, the cost of establishing the registry was more than $1 billion. The Harper government campaigned on getting rid of the long-gun registry and now it says it also intends to destroy all the information about long-gun owners that has been collected.

I've known that for years. You guys have one of the highest gun-ownerships per capita in the world. You and Switzerland... and yet you have nowhere near the murder rates that we have here in the states.

That means guns are not the problem. Something else is.

I blame the glorification of violence and not teaching children how to deal with social pressures.
