Wtf is America coming to? I live in SC and bought a tao tao 50 moped because I lost my lisence. This moped is well within the law at .49cc and 1.8 bhp. The title has all this on it and says motorscooter.

A cop pulled me over going to work and said I was going 45mph (on a upwards inclined road) which is impossible for this scooter. So this is a motorcycle not a moped. And he was towing it right away. He then asked me how to get the trunk and seat open and I told him I didnt consent to a search. He told me he didnt need my permission because he was taking inventory. So after his search (yes he searched good) he called a wrecker and charged me with DUS, Driving without insurance on a motorcycle, and failure to register a motorcyle.

Now I have a valid moped lisence and a moped tag. You dont need insurance on a moped in SC, but he said none of it matters because its not a moped.

Now heres the problem. Dispite the title and all paperwork saying its a .49cc motorscooter the metal plate says motorcycle. Which I dont understand. Thats what he is using. He never saw the title and he never charged me with why he pulled me over..which was allegedly speeding.
Can anyone help me as to where I go with this? I have a pic of the title and my lisence but cant post it.
