Bright Light San Francisco
Bright light spotted in Bay Area sky this morning
Thursday, January 17, 2013

It appears a meteor or some other bright object may have passed over the Bay Area early this morning.

Several views have told ABC7 News they saw a bright fireball in the sky around 5:25 a.m. - possibly in the area of Pittsburg.

If you captured a photo or video of the mysterious object, you can email it to [email protected].

I personally witnessed seeing this light and I was in the bay area no where near Pittsburg. It was on my clock which I set a few mins fast: 5:24 am. I was up with my new puppy who is still learning to sleep through the night.

The light was the ENTIRE sky. Waaay Brighter than lightning. But No sound at all.
I was so scared I thought of the movie The Day After they made us watch in High school.

I seriously was petrified waiting for the nuclear blast to incinerate me and my house.
nothing happened.
It was bright bluish white. Not a meteor.

Anyone else?

fireball lit up the predawn Northern California sky Thursday, according to reports from early risers.

The possible meteor was reported about 5:25 a.m. by people across California and as far away as Fernley, Nev., about 30 miles east of Reno.

I saw it on my way to work, near Yosemite. Several of my co-workers also saw it. It looked to be south, but the roads are windy and I could be turned around with directions. It looked like a huge headlight shining through the trees. Someone else who was a passenger said they thought a car had passed them.

Exactly! That is exactly what it looked like except you knew that isn't what it was because of the way that it was positioned. Basically it was like a Gigantic headlight shining in my house.

Creepy.

Big meteor if that is what it was . . . and where is the crater?
