Anonymous Coward User ID: 30663645 United States 01/18/2013 06:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The TSA isn't about effectively stopping threats at all and never has been. It's designed to allow the grandmothers of America and conservatives to feel safe while they fly. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 536600 There is a certain portion of our society that is very afraid of everything. This isn't a horrible trait to have, the world can indeed be a dangerous place at times. Let's call them the "cautious" people. These Cautious people were so scared after 9/11 that they all but stopped flying at all. To get them back in the air, the Transportation Safety Administration was created. Even the name is meant to reassure people. Notice it isn't called "Bomb and Gun stoppers" or "Anti-Terrorist Organization". Nope. It's all about making people feel safe. Even if it doesn't work. The real fact is... Flying isn't all that dangerous and never has been. Nothing really is. But some people see isolated events and have to personalize them into a potential threat for themselves, in the moment. I just hope we don't have another major terrorist action soon, or well all be stripped searched before going to buy groceries in a public store. Just so granny can feel safe getting her ice cream. |

Listen you teenage punk. I AM a Granny...a hot one thank you...and the grannies and conservatives aren't the ones that want laws that tell us when to pee, how fast to drive, what we can eat, what we can build on our own damn property, etc. I live in a liberal state...Washington...and we can't piss out our front door on thirty acres without some pinko liberal needing to make a law telling us how to do it. This granny has food, guns and a bug out cabin if things ever get bad. I don't fly as much as I used to because I don't want to support my fascist government and the their fascist airport methods. Am I afraid to fly...hell no. I AM wondering whenever I get on a plane if this one will be the next false flag from the commie liberals that want a one world communist government to tell me what to do 24-7. If you don't understand that the TRUE conservatives (not party affiliated with Repubs) wants freedom to live their life without interference from busy body liberals that want to dictate how I should live my life from cradle to grave. Freedom is NOT part of liberal creed...control is. “You have rights antecedent to all earthly governments; rights that cannot be repealed or restrained by human laws; rights derived from the Great Legislator of the Universe.” John Adams, Second President of the United States |

Are they admitting (a) they don't work, (b) they are invasion of privacy and dignity, (c) that they are dangerous or (d) that it was just a conditioning exercise and we all passed (in that we'll willingly be treated as slaves for the privilege of flying). Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32446287 all of the above. THEY FOUND WHAT THEY WERE LOOKING FOR. something(s) that could only be detected by xray. something(s) that could morph or hide it's identity on the out side. something(s) that is not HUMAN. You know, that sounds just crazy enough to be true. “You have rights antecedent to all earthly governments; rights that cannot be repealed or restrained by human laws; rights derived from the Great Legislator of the Universe.” John Adams, Second President of the United States |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 7111119 United States 01/18/2013 08:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Maybe I'll actually go flying again! It seems that the TSA will remove these most disgusting and dangerous devices from the airports - though they're taking their sweet time about it. Probably because too many of their agents are getting cancer. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32500486 They'll be keeping the millimeter wavelength devices though - and they have their own problems, but they're less invasive than the damn x-ray things. The x-ray scanners were never tested or approved by FDA or anyone else that's a health expert. I don't think the MM wavelength things are either, but Europe allows them, so they're probably a bit safer. Of course, this is from AP, so YMMV. [link to hosted.ap.org] Thats right, me and the wife stay in our state or drive close by for vacations. The airport hassle sucks when your older. I'll stay close to home and drive. |
