We should never ever discount the importance of weapons for personal/ family protection and for adding food to the table, nor the various skill sets of trapping/ fishing/ growing one's own food/ etc. However, once the time for Internet bravado has passed, the procurement of food for most isn't going to play out quite as fanciful or bountiful as in their daydreams. Health Physical Ailments/ Injury Weather Additional Threats (animal/ man/ environmental) Population of Indigenous Food Sources Access to Indigenous Food Sources All of these will play to a large negative effect in one's ability to take food from the land - regardless if they wish to admit it or not. Now is the time to prepare your food stores, and that includes growing, canning, dehydrating, and purchasing from a long-term food vendor. Even with ammo cans stacked to the roof - if you have no access/ opportunity to take food - for whatever the reason - that brass isn't going to be too palatable. Prepping is neither a fad nor following a recent trend - it is a multi-tiered lifestyle. A lot of people have it in their minds that they will use all that brass and lead to TAKE food from others. Some may succeed, other will die trying. |

This book is a fictional tale about prepping and the details you haven't even thought of yet. I highly recommend it. You are only focusing on the food you need to have STORED... not the things about true SURVIVAL. I am a prepper of the highest order, but I am a crack shot and trained in MMA. I am a female and my family means everything to me. I will protect to my last breath. There WILL be roving bands of people who are STARVING it is not their plan to be looters but they will have no other choice. This is where you will have to decide what you will do...read the book....it will change you, I promise. Fool me once, shame on you.....fool me twice shame on me. |

Certainly, the market has used dubious techniques to bolster markets however nature cn place a spin on things that the greedy cannot control. In normal times, I have at LEAST a month worth of food in my house. There is never a time where we have NOTHING to eat, but I have friends who constantly say how they are "out of food, not a scrap to eat, gotta get to the store!" How does that happen? How are you so irresponsible? I have 3 kids. I will never be without at least a month of food in my house. Sure, we might be eating rice and beans by the end of the month, but we could survive! And we have been stocking up even more...as of tonight we have about 3 months of food...bags and bags of rice, cans and cans of beans, mountains of peanut butter, and so on. It's really not that hard to keep some extra food around. It's irresponsible not to, ESPECIALLY if you have kids. Quoting: DoomingItUp You just reminded me of a link I have that has three types of shopping lists to get people started who really don't have much in the house to begin with and don't know where to get started.
