Times changed. The 2nd Ammenment was used that way back in the days because laws were openly used to take away certain freedoms from others because of fear.

Nowadays it's the same, but creates the illusion of the opposite. People nowadays actually believe laws create freedom, instead of taking it away. Of course there are always exceptions, but I'm talking about the majority.
