Opt Out Of Medicare !
If you are getting Medicare, you CAN opt out of part B. I did it today, as my small way to protest obamacare, and the forcing of people to go against their beliefs. That is $105 less that the commie and his treacherous gang in D.C. will be getting monthly from me.
I am a Christian. I cannot compromise my Faith, or endanger my soul, to comply with this great evil that is obamacare.
IF you are getting Medicare, all you need to do is go to the local Social Security office, and fill out a form and sign it. Your Medicare part B coverage will end the day you sign it, but, they will still continue to take the payments out for 2 months afterwards.
If you want to go back on Medicare part B in the future, there are only sign-ups in January, February, and March of each year, with coverage beginning in July of the year you re-sign. There is also a 10% penalty added to the premium, for every year you have opted out.
If you opt out of the Medicare part B, you lose your doctor office visit coverage, and all coverage of any outpatient tests and procedures. If you retain part A, which is automatic, and is free, you still have complete hospital coverage, including all tests, procedures, medicine, etc, while you are an inpatient.
I have health problems, some serious. I take natural medicines from the health food store, and regular antibiotics once every year, or 2.
My choice to do this is not for everybody. It is a personal decision.

I am not healthy. I have no employer coverage. My only medical coverage is Medicare.
People also need to know that when they are about to turn 65, or get on SSD, that they can opt out of part B and not sign up for it in the first place. They can opt to keep their private insurance, if they choose.

So they don't make you have part D.
If one dose sign up for an opt out form then they would have to have part D at minimum?
Do you know what the form is called to opt-out?

No, it is not, as long as you retain part A, the free part. You do not lose you Social Security by opting out of part B, which is the one you pay for.

You intrigue me. Why do you think state funded healthcare is compromising your Christian faith? You either pay for healthcare through your taxes or via a monthly premium.

In NZ we have government funder healthcare that is paid for by taxation and optional private insurance.

I have a copy of the form in front of me. It is titled "Request For Termination Of Premium Hospital And/Or Supplementary Medical Insurance". On the form is a box with 2 choices of termination of coverage, Hospital Insurance and Medical Insurance. I checked "Medical Insurance", which is considered Supplementary Medical Insurance. The only effect on your Social Security check, is that you now have an extra $105 per month.

Part D is drug coverage, which is optional and has a differant sign-up method. It is not automatic.

Actually, this was on my mind today. I got payment coupons in the mail for Part D because I chose "direct payment method." Of course, I didnt choose anything and it was sent to me automatically? The letter doesnt say anything about an option to opt out so, thank you, for the info and guess I know where I'll be going Monday morning.

But, there is a way around it, you still do have part A, which is medical insurance, albeit hospitalization.

But kudos to you for researching and exercising your rights!

Mediare part A is medical insurance and all you are required to have, and it is free. You see that part pays the hospital when you arrive in the ER near dead so they can perform a million tests, poke you and prod you and hook you up to machines once you are unconscious. There you will die a painful, horrible long death. It is where....wait for this, it is VERY important, YOU WILL SPEND 25% OF YOUR LIFETIME MEDICAL COVERAGE! That's right boyz and girls, this is how hospitals make gazillions of $$$ on Part A. Each Gomer pays hundreds of thousands of $$$ to the hospital WITHOUT CHANGING THE OUTCOME AT ALL. In other words, you are still dead.

Look at it this way, it is $1,260 more a year in your pocket. The premiums for part B are expected to rise to over $200 a month next year. I researched all the ramifications of this. IF you are not getting the bang for the buck, or you have good coverage through your former employer, opting out can be a wise financial decision.

^ this.

Most people have no idea how it really works, or what they are paying for.

You 'contribute' to Part A during working years. (Must be a minimum of 10 years contribution, or married to a spouse who contributed for 10 years)....
....thats what everyone thinks is free when they retire (wasnt really free at all)

.....but the OP is correct. Once you are at retirement age the govt tries to coherse you into purchasing Part B.....which you would continue to pay for till you die.

Not to mention all the other pieces of medicare, but that is the basics.

No problem :)

Medicare is a personal hot spot for me, so many peopleare just ignorant about it, they dont care until its too late....

I used to teach Medicare for a few years, so i know a lot about it and how it really works, impacting the patient, the provider and the gov.
