I just checked and the camera / microphone permissions were on my Samsung Galaxy S III and NOT on my Nexus 7 tablet. Very odd that the permissions changed. Both are running the Jelly Bean OS.

About 2 years ago I got my laptop administrative rights taken over remotley and found out the dude was listening to me and watching me through the webcam! I couldnt believe it after it was confirmed by numerous sources! At first I was in denial that anyone could do such a thing or even care about what I was doing but, I was wrong... This happened on my regular laptop!

Ever since I have disabled the whole sound and put a cute little hello kitty baindaid over my webcam! Fuck... This shit still pisses me off and the guy who was caught went to jail a week later for some other shit thank goodness! Do not trust anyone with your laptop or your passwords!!! Dont leave your shit unattended and I suggest finding someone who is like family that of course you can trust, that knows about computer security to set your stuff up!

So many people are careless and then wonder why this stuff and things like identity theft happen!

Regaurding FB, I barley use it anymore since I studied this kind of shit and learned about all the stuff possible! It sucks when I try to tell my FB peeps whats up but they just think I'm paranoid! I would love to see what they would do if they found out they were being listened to and watched! It is truly devestating and does make you freaking parinoid!
But I guess till it happens to you, it's hard to imagine the impact it does emotionally and mentally!

Btw is this just with the phone apps as of now? Or in my case could I still check in from my laptop? I feel like I miss alot of events and important get togethers because I am not in the FB loop anymore! It seems now adays that is the only way people really keep in touch! I will admit before all this I thought the losers were the ones not on fb! lol

Who cares? I have nothing to hide. I live a good, honest life. I communicate with family on there that live far away, share pics with them etc. Whats the gov gonna do? Steal pictures of my adorable kids and do what? They're lucky to see such a sight! LOL HAHAHAHAH........... yep

That's why don't use 3G internet on my Android smartphone.

My Android smartphone is only connected to the internet through Wi-Fi, once in a while.

I would never let it connected to the internet all the time.

You never know what those apps are REALLY doing...

= mobile tracking device.. wanna call me = ring my landline = if i'm not at home talk to the answer machine = otherwise i am busy somewhere i'll call you back if i want to.... simple = mobile tracking device.. learned that from my ex.............

Are there any other options besides facebook? I have three boys in the military and that's how I stay 'in touch' with them and get updates, since we can't always talk on the phone. However if there was another site we could use to keep in touch I would gladly use it (if I could get them to switch!).

Me too. I never use facebook on a phone, but I do have it on my computer.

Oh, nevermind...I don't have a smart phone and I don't have internet on my dumb phone. I can only access FB from my home computer :)

Just keep throwing out a ton of bogus information. If u live in a house, say that u live in an apartment. You're really 65 and weigh 350lbs. You're female of course and a brain surgeon or park ranger. Let them load those optical files with a ton of disinfo/misinfo. To the point where it's pretty much worthless.....

yes.. meetcam.cmm.. changed it to as not advertise, free and you can make a password room.... centralised in web cam years ago, but now it is mainstream with no real mods.. that one you can password and still webchat with family abroad :)

FB is but one of MANY.

I had to uninstall about 10 apps on my daughters phone be cause they hadaccess to camera.

Look at them all, not just FB

why are you advising people to use an unknown central service -entirely beyond their control- for using a simple webcam??

there are plenty of opensource alternatives that let you make an encrypted, authenticated and direct webcam-session with a peer...

I do have to admit it woke me up! hehe! I'll mess around with it tonight (after the little one goes to bed) and figure out how to make my own room! lol! Thanks for the info and the wake up!! :)
