They have access to the Internet :-p but BEYOND THAT... You all know more about the world than an estimated 90 percent of the people you interact with, or in some cases reluctantly share oxygen with. If you are like me then your spot on the bell curve lies east of where the intellectual roller coaster slams into the water and gets everybody wet. Regardless, we all share common ground. We are conspiracy theorists, philosophers, prophets, and prisoners of our own minds. If this is an illness

I can argue, curse, degrade, and humiliate them without every having to be around them. Sometimes I will even argue against my preferred thoughts, just to hear what people are really thinking. Playing into the same role everyday limits possible imputs from some that might be able to express themselves with clarity that might otherwise be hidden behind a mask of disinterest.
