Best thread here. Didn't realize Der Spiegel had it in it! Germany's most famous magazine - can't imagine the letters to the editor that they're gonna get. Climate change: scientists baffled by the stop in global warming). Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32681391 Nope. Real scientists aren't puzzled at all, and always understood that "global warming" was a manufactured fantasy created by scam artists working with statist/Democrat Al Gore and Goldman Sachs in concert with the puss bags in academia who manufactured the data. Real scientists aren't surprised. |

Stupid retard "climate scientists" don't understand nonlinear systems. It would take a hell of a lot more than CO2 to knock global climate out of the stable region it has inhabited for millennia. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32685288 errr... what stable region? the planet currently is in an interglacial period of an ice age. we know it's an ice age due to the vast ice sheets existing on the planet. the "interglacial" bit means that the vast ice sheets aren't covering the whole planet, there are large areas not covered in ice. but there's nothing "stable" about it. glaciation could restart at any time, nobody knows why glaciation starts or stops. nobody even knows why ice ages start or stop. there is only one thing we can be pretty sure of about the climate: it won't stay like THIS. |

Okay, so when do the how to survive in an ice-age start. Stocking up and still keeping NG flowing (domestic and exports)would seem to be worthwhile projects to consider keeping going. Food that can be frozen should be more common in 'gardens' and R-40 green houses for fresh herbs (earth heated) As the northern parts lose their ability to grow certain crops and that area is moved closer to the equator eliminating areas that are now 'desert' areas as moisture moves in. Rather than being lost altogether, the ability to produce food could actually increase in some areas (and then exported to the areas that lost production is that puts them short) The northern cities would need to stockpile in the summer and ration it out during 'hibernation'. Having large cities do that takes the strain off the areas that have a climate suited to having 2 crops per year. (temp workers coming down from the far north and then leaving again until needed again, in return extra food is produced so they have lots to last the longer winters. Isolated with broadband, the old sled dog sized e-sled makes a comeback but it is solar recharged with a wind gen if you get caught in a storm and need to park for a few days and the dogs get to hang on the couch with the rest of the family. Boots and mitts with built in heat sensors that start flashing if a certain temp is reached so frost-bite losses are kept to a minimum. Diverting snowmelt south instead of letting it go north could be the 'resource' we have an over abundance of that is required the further south you go which makes us a valued customer rather than handout to the needy. You just work longer days in the summer to make up for couch time in the winter. If England is going to get more rain could the hedges be planted in such a way as to capture most of the silt as that is the topsoil for the next crop. That might also mean London moving up 20 ft and let the bottom floor become part of the underground if spring floods are to be avoided (after the intentional ones that bring in the fill during floods, use the sea wall to keep the river water in for its cargo of silt, 10 or 20 years later London is 20ft above high water mark. |

For my area it would mean getting away from grains and going to what can be grown under the surface of the soil prevents an early frost kill. |
