Balasubramanian's group has been pursuing a four-stranded version of the molecule that scientists have produced in the test tube now for a number of years.

It is called the G-quadruplex. The "G" refers to guanine, one of the four chemical groups, or "bases", that hold DNA together and which encode our genetic information (the others being adenine, cytosine, and thymine).

"I'm hoping now that the pharmaceutical companies will bring this on to their radar and we can perhaps take a more serious look at whether quadruplexes are indeed therapeutically viable targets."

Not sure I like the sound of that. Isn't our DNA supposed to be expanding so that we can evolve?

Agreed yes, expanding to evolve. However, they are discussing this in terms of treatment options for cancer so in that respect it may be beneficial, and funds will be needed to expand the potential value of this research. But it pays not to be naive.

Which interpretation?

On reading those abstracts I was struck by how similar the concepts and language are to a similar discussion of astrophysics. The engineering of structures in the cell (microbiology) vs. the engineering of structures in space (like magnetic field lines from the sun engineered to connect with earth). Both accomplished by nature.

Reminds of a book I read almost 20 years ago now, by Deepok Chopra, called Perfect Health. In it he said;

"The space between the atoms in the cells of the body are comparable to the space between stars in the galaxy". I found that mind-blowing back then and certainly contributed to my awakening.

I can't speak for the commenter but personally it does resemble a 'good' Swastika rather than a Nazi Style.

Notice deep in the center what appears to be a Torus type of Shape,I'd like to see this image rotated.

Eagle, very glad you found an alternative for yourself that left you with quality of life. My Mom had Melanoma and she used to say, all she heard coming out of surgery, was her doctor saying he got it all and she said she never gave recurrence a second thought and she never had one. The mind is so very powerful.
