Useless Cookie Eater User ID: 29696048 United States 01/27/2013 02:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | mass flow air meter or some name liek that - its normal, your car works one moment, and stops working the next moment, turn over for days, starts with starting fluid, and NO fuel given to engine (engine cannot sens air flow and does not know how much gas to mix into the stream of air it CANNOT SENSE anymore, so. it stops. Quoting: DoomGod mass air flow meter. [link to www.ehow.com] no shit? I did not know that. MAF sensors go into OPEN MODE (STUMBLE HOME MODE) when they get no reading. They will not STOP the car from running....just make it run like shit if they are DOA. |

Useless Cookie Eater User ID: 29696048 United States 01/27/2013 02:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | had an olds touring sedan, 88 - 3800 motor - woudl NOT start - or start and pop a couple times and die, trust me if I had been able to drive to the 2 miles home, I would have, I tried for 2 hours and got 50 out of gas station... called a wrecker, had it running again next day. Quoting: DoomGod maybe it does theoretically have a get home min operation to it... mine failed. I've never had one that TOTALLY died as you describe, just because the MAF alone failed.. You may have had something else going on there too. Last Edited by Useless Cookie Eater on 01/27/2013 02:26 PM |

Useless Cookie Eater User ID: 29696048 United States 01/27/2013 02:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP....I looked up your car. It may not use a MAF sensor....but instead use a MAP (Manifold Air Pressure) sensor. Those were the early days of EFI systems in many cars so there are lots of ways manufacturers were toying with doing things. MAP sensor alone could have been MOPARS answer that year. The MAP sensor could affect the injector flow. Can you take a pic of under the hood, and post it, so we can see if there is any MAF versus MAP sensor for sure on that thing? If there is, the MAF would be before the manifold plenum. Last Edited by Useless Cookie Eater on 01/27/2013 02:39 PM |

bill shitters 1.2 User ID: 19820209 United Kingdom 01/27/2013 02:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So i have a car , its not getting power to the electric fuel pump or coil. Quoting: SmellslikeDrama The starter will turn over with the key, and the dash lights and all work. None of the fuses are blown. I replaced the fuel relays , and auto stop relay. I smelt something burning like a computer while the key was on by the battery. I figured out the smell was coming from the engine control module. It smells like a burn computer board. Would that be my problem? Its my daily doom NEW PROBLEM Ok What would cause the injectors to not be getting power? The plug that that leads to the injectors has fire. The car wants to start when using starter fluid. So its not getting gas.The fuel pump is working. I replaced the ecm and its all good. I cant get any fire on the injector plug while trying to start the car. Was that the car key on the battery or was it a tool Silly bit if battery was shorted check its voltage The retired thread killer Still the killa of threads we come in peace shoot to kill [link to au.youtube.com] I can not talk TO aliens but do listen to the anally probed |

SmellslikeDrama (OP) User ID: 1267719 United States 01/28/2013 12:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I had a bad ecm . Had burnt wires on the injector harness. The main cause of no gas was Injectors was clogged after i replaced the ecm. I had to take them out and clean them all. Now I still might have to replace some of the injectors, BUt im going to wait till i run all the bad gas out. I also removed and cleaned the intake, and all the sensors on the throttle control housing with carb cleaner. The carb cleaner also worked great on the injectors. Thanks for the help guys. |
