Not only is the US heading into depopulation, (besides the effects of possible doom scenarios), but Mexico too has population leveling out and projected to drop with only 2.5 births per couple, and projected to drop even more. It takes somewhat more than 2 births per couple to maintain population levels.

The comparison between the US and Rome is not accurate completely. Sure there are parallels, like debasing currency to pay for government spending.
