What is one lesson of Job for all people? God REMAINS ENOUGH.
Trusting God isn’t easy when tragedy strikes.

This morning, my Bible fell open to the first page of the Book of Job, so I began to read it.

It is always fascinating to see what the Holy Ghost will illuminate.

At times, I have what I call "cartoon thinking". I think in comical imagery, so it struck me funny when I read:

"One day the angels came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them".

It's that last part, "and Satan also came with them"-- he just happened to be tagging along.....doot doot de doo.

And the Lord says to Satan, "Where have you come from?". As if He didn't know already.

Satan answers, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it."

How many of you thought of this verse after reading that?:

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour" 1 Peter 5:8

Our Lord continues to say,
"Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him, he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil."

Oh, oh, I see some tribulation coming.

Most of us know what happens next -- Satan rejects God's view of Job's devout character.

“Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan asks.

Satan implies that Job is simply out for what he can get from God and he argues:

“Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has?
“You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.”

It's as if he is saying, "it's not You that he loves, it's just his possessions and what you have blessed him with".

So he poses a challenge to God.

“Stretch out your hand and strike everything he has,” Satan dares God, “and he will surely curse you to your face.”

I imagine God is not hesitant in His reply as He knows Job's heart and what the outcome will be.

“Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.”

God permits Satan to inflict Job--and only within the limits God Himself has established.

So Satan grabs a handful of torments from his bag of suffering and heaps them on blameless Job.

One after another, messengers come to tell Job the bad news of all that he lost--oxen, donkeys, sheep, camels, servants and the worst -- the destruction of his sons and daughters
.
How did Job respond?

“In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.” (Job 1:22)

Re: What is one lesson of Job for all people? God REMAINS ENOUGH.
But then a second wave of inflictions come along.

Satan wasn't through yet. He failed at his first attempt.

Now he is permitted to "strike his flesh and bones".

"Satan went out from the presence of the LORD and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the top of his head." Job 2:7

Job is suffering......................truly tormented.

He finds no comfort or satisfying consolation from his wife and friends.

His wife says “Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die.”

But think about it, everything he lost, she lost too, so it's no surprise that she would be feeling anguish.

Desperately trying to solve the mystery behind his suffering, Job is brought to the point where he questions God of all that has happened to him:

“May the day of my birth perish, and the night that said, ‘A boy is conceived!’ Why have you made me your target? Have I become a burden to you? Does it please you to oppress me, to spurn the work of your hands, while you smile on the schemes of the wicked? Your hands shaped me and made me. Will you now turn and destroy me?”
(Job 3:11, 7:20, 10:3, and 10:8)

What strange outbursts!

How could those words come from the same mouth that said earlier "The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away;
may the name of the Lord be praised?”
( Job 1:21)

We see Job reach great heights of faith only to plunge from them into near despair.

I've found myself in this predicament, too.

Trials come my way, and at first my faith is strong, but when they persist in coming, my eyes start to focus more on the problem and my faith withers.

I wonder why this is happening to me and I begin to question God too.

Sometimes I feel that God has disappeared from my life.

Job probably felt this way, too.

But then, God appears.

God refuses to answer Job's questions.

Speaking from a whirlwind, God proceeds to ask him questions instead.

What is the first question that God asks of Job?

“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Job 38:4

Believe me, guys, this is all the Lord's doing.

I made other plans for today, but I did ask Him this morning to use me for HIS glory.

I just read the story(I'm still reading it) and found it fascinating and fruitful and sharing with you the notes I wrote down.

Thank our Lord for His wonderful Word

We suffer.

We can identify with Job.

How Job reacts to his severe trial says something about how we should act about our trials.

When we suffer for reasons we don't understand, do we still hold on to our faith?

Do we still continue to trust in God?

Do we believe that God remains enough?

As part of the body of Christ.....a person will have a period of suffering.

Just as Christ suffered.....those who are now a part of His body will also have a period of suffering.

This is referred to in Scripture as the fellowship of suffering.

"But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, AFTER YOU HAVE SUFFERED AWHILE, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you."

1 Peter 5: 10

God will be there to help you and strengthen you during this time of suffering. Cry out to Him.

Yes, our trials and suffering bring about an important transformation.

They are meant to mold us into the person God created us to be.

Just as a beautiful diamond is formed under extreme heat and pressure, so can our trials transform us into heavenly jewels
if we allow the Master Diamond Cutter to make us into a thing of beauty.

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in heavenly places."
Ephesians 6:12

When reading the first two chapters of Job, we are reminded that there is a "cosmic conflict" going on behind the scenes that we are usually unaware of.

Even now, as I type, there is spiritual activity happening with "the rulers of the darkness of this world", and with angelic beings, both good and evil in the invisible realm.

Much of the evil in this physical world is a direct result of the unseen war in the spiritual world.

There are times when the seemingly normal arrangement of our life, our existence, is disrupted, and we cry out for just one ordinary day.

But as we continue along in our difficulties, in our sufferings, we begin to see our hearts are changing and we learn to enjoy simple pleasures
that we had taken for granted.

At the hospital, while my husband was being prepped for his liver transplant/operation, we were having a discussion about a bottle of Perrier water that was sitting in the refrigerator at home. He was deprived of eating and drinking normally in his last few days, because of his extreme illness.

Talking about drinking that bottle of Perrier water put a sparkle in his eyes, as it was a simple pleasure that he missed. Sadly, he didn't survive the operation, but I know what he is enjoying in heaven now is exceedingly better than a bottle of Perrier water.

I lost my husband 7 years ago.

But shortly after, I experienced that "second wave of infliction" when my beloved sister died of Lou Gehrig's Disease. It was grief upon grief.

Later on, when my son broke his jaw in a cycling accident, I was basically numb to feeling any type of emotion.

Losing a loved one leaves a permanent scar on the heart, but for those who die in the Lord it is simply a matter of passing from this life into the next, and that is a consoling thought to us who are left behind.

Re: What is one lesson of Job for all people? God REMAINS ENOUGH.
I have dabbled around in all sorts of different beliefs and religions throughout the last couple of years. When all is said and done, the only idea that rings true to me is the belief in God. All of this universal consciousness/love and light/ you are your own god is total and complete BS. Being loving and understanding is great and good, but if there is no connection between oneself and the one true God, one's attempts at showing love to humans is ultimately futile. I really liked the "me tel u" thread on here. The entity channeled claimed no religions were the truth, but did mention that you must serve God before you serve yourself and others. When we take care of God's will, he will take care of us completely. I still remain skeptical about Christianity and the bible, but it's message is overall one worth striving to bring into this world. The time is at hand where we are going to be tested and plunged into darkness. Please have faith in God during these times, for he is very real.

The KJV is the only TRUE word of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Do not fall for these lukewarm, satanic "bibles". You have been warned. Proverbs 3:5-7. John 14:26.
1 Timothy 3:16 KJV
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
