Blockbuster Video Closing 300 Stores soon

I don't know how they let it fall so quick, why didn't they turn themselves in the new netflix in the beginning or hell just hire a competent team of creatives and they would of come with a solution.

They frankly deserve it.

Their customer service was so atrocious, I gave up going there.

FOr instance, they had a special offer with tickets for a free movie if you rented a load marked that you could not use them before May and June, so I went in in Julym having spent a fortune to get these free ones and they just told, "Well, you should have used them like everyone else in May and June."

Then I returned a movie and they told me to put it in the absket. Next thing I know, I 've got three days late fee, simply because their lazy staff had not processed the films for three days, and when I complained, they asked which memeber of staff had I given it too or no momney back. So, next time, I go in to return a movie, I insist on giving it to a person and not putting it in the basket. Result? I get some cocky wench resuing to take it telling me I had to put it in the basket. After a fuss and being told that I was "An asshole", simply for protecting myself.

Never went back there ever again. Had a gutful and happy to see them in well-deserved closure.

Man I will miss blockbuster, good memories.

Didnt even know they had stores still open.

You would think with DISH and everything. They could of done more streaming, much more.

Just bought a dozen BluRays at our local Blockbuster going out of business.

$1.99 each.

They closed up my way about 2009. We have the boxes; redbox and blockbuster box. I like these things much better. Somedays I just don't feel like talking to one more dumbass human...

I am all for some low key self serve automation.

What's weird to me is how everyone talks about BB like it's been around a hundred years.

I remember a long time way before any vid stores existed.

VHS is one of a few technologies that came and went during my lifetime.

The first blank tapes I saw back in 1981 were about $15 at the Video Concepts.

Bought my first VCR with a CAMERA! in 1982 for $2000.

In 1990 I started working on VCRs. I charged $30 to replace a belt that cost me $1.50. A cleaning was about $20 and that would fix most problems.

Now you can buy a VCR for $30 if you can find one.

Good times.

That one is in the top 5 all time classics.

while anyone who bitching about privacy that's because they not evolving...these days HDD are pretty cheap and people have fast internet access.

This may have already been posted, but here's why: REDBOX. Cheaper and more convenient, but terrible selection. Our new reality is less choices on everything.

I thought that already happened. They went bankrupt years ago... At least in Canada...

I've fixed a few myself. Alcohol to wipe the surface clean plus belt dressing. Yes it's the same stuff you use on a car yet it works wonders on belts. In my industry I get to see the tech most people throw away.

next teachers, triage by a digital voice activated nurse, etc etc... every leap = less real work....

who needs humans?... we're redundant, era of the machine.. kids won't think their i-phone are so cuddly in a few decades.... ROCK ON! robo-cob and terminator.....

I miss in the old days, my family would rent a movie every weekend and watch together.

Then after awhile, we'd go and there was nothing interesting to rent

Then we got busy

Then the stores were gone.

No more movie time together :(

Exactly. What's Obama got to do with the fact that streaming over the internet has become so popular it's not worth it to rent or even sell physical copies of DVDs/Blu Rays? Or that even gaming industry has become more and more interested in digital distributing of their games? Some people just don't seem to understand what's going on in real life...
