Las Vegas ads target gays - and insults actual relationships and normal couples...

I'm not the kind of person who has issues with gay people, I got my woman and I don't give a fuck what everyone else does for their pleasure, keep it out of my face and I'll keep my sexuality out of yours, that's my view.


BUT these ads actually kinda pissed me off, portraying straight people as weird ass squares who seem to have traveled forward in time from the 50s or something.

Like we're backwards or something...


But then I saw the text at the bottom of the ads... it's a campaign aimed at package holidays for gay couples, so for a second I was like "oh... fuck it, I guess it makes sense so."

BUT then I thought, no it's still not fucking okay.

First of all if you want equality then why target specific orientations like that.

Imagine the uproar if these ads were based on race instead of sexual orientation eh?

"Even crackers are welcome!"

People would flip the fuck out, front page news baby.

If the ads were even just reversed and a bunch of straight couples were partying down and a gay couple was shown being FLAMING stereotype style in the middle of them and the text read "everyone is welcome... even gay people."

The pc shit would hit the fan.

Of course deep down I know the real reason I'm pissed is because I'm straight and these ads are poking fun at my sexual orientation, my group, my section of society... but does that make my being pissed any less valid?

I'm kinda sick of being the only group that's allowed to have the piss ripped out of it, white straight male... fair game.

This is what's known as an informal fallacy, specifically you're using the old "slippery slope" or "thin end of the wedge" argument, I pointed this out only yesterday to a poster here about the very same subject.

It's invalid, here's why.

The key words to remember here are "consenting" and "adults".

Animals cannot consent.
Children are not adults.

So the pedos and the beasties can campaign all they like but their chosen "partners" (ugh, more like "targets") can never give legally recognized consent... so they will never get their particular perversion accepted in the same way homosexuality is.

I agree with you about the ads being bullshit, but you're employing an argument that is totally without foundation and honesty compels me to point it out.

Secondly, children are biologically undeveloped for procreation... which regardless of the purpose of the sexual act is and should be a prerequisite before the concept of consent even comes into it.

There's no way around it, however you try to paint it, kids and animals are off limits.
