What haven't we been able to reproduce or manage to cultivate in labs? Well technically nothing is actually finite, because energy simply moves from one form to another. What the problem is that the amount of net energy you get from lets say some algae grown oil is probably negative. All energy (apart from geothermal) come from our sun at a constant flow, we have used up stored "solar" energy in the form of oil,gas and coal, and we have used roughly 50% of that up. The other 50% will push us closer to the zero net energy rate where extracting it basically becomes pointless. |
