Should only tax payers be allowed to vote?
Should only tax payers be allowed to vote?

When Socrates and his friends were talking of voters, they were talking of land owners. In today’s terms, that means, ---- taxpayer. The core of democracy.

There are two types of citizens. The tax payer and the tax taker.

Once the tax payer hands over his wealth, he loses control of where it is spent.

This is counter to the taxpayer’s wishes.

Why do taxpayers allow this situation and defer their right to spend their wealth to others?

If tax-takers had done a good job with that wealth, I do not think any would complain. That is not the case.

Should those who pay the way of our society be the ones who decide where our wealth is spent?

Since the right to do so is tied to our vote, should only taxpayers be allowed to vote on spending issues?

probably not a bad idea, but does have its flaws, like everything else. first of all, we left europe so we didnt have to pay taxes. secondly alot of people cant even find jobs right now.

I don't pay taxes and I don't vote, although I have an obligation to vote in my country (I don't give a flying shit).

Paying taxes and voting is for slaves.

Nobody should be able to vote to steal other peoples property and money.
That's why libereals shake out the nursing homes and shelters to get votes, liberalism is based on theft from their designated enemies, they cant survive on their own dime and their own effort

I think if that were the case, we would have fewer problems than we have now. We wouldn't have a bunch of unfunded promises to pay out. We wouldn't have such a massive debt problem.

Although the question is, would it be ethical?

Not so.
Some pay in a pittance and get it back in services, they add nothing, and take out more than they paid.
Everyone doesnt pay the same rate, or get the same services.

Even if you work at a job and are low income you pay taxes.

Your labor is taxed, you do not get the full benefit of your labor. Someone is making a profit off of you.

What about when you fill up your car, you pay alot of state tax and some federal. How about tabs and licenses for the vehicles?

They are all taxes.

True.

But the thread is about voting. Even a pittance of tax is a tax.

Everyone pays something. Some get more than they pay. But to not allow voting..... No... If that is the criteria for voting then everyone is allowed to.

This would work if the peasents and serfs were allowed to own land.

They are not.

At best they can lease the land from the goverment. ( property taxes)

What you end up with is a monopoly of land ownership. That is what we have today. It is not a good system.

No because there shouldn't be domestic taxes in the first place. It should be tariffs only like it was under Jefferson.

Re: Should only tax payers be allowed to vote?
Do you mean wage taxes? If that was the case then I'm pretty sure unemployment would reach 99% to keep the votes to the upper 1% or so.

But really we all pay taxes through inflation. As the government always spends more than it can take from taxes (present or future) that added debt which the economy cannot service in present value of the currency is direct printing of currency, diluting the value of all other currency/money in circulation.

I do agree here. Taxing income= slave worker

Taxing land=Land Leaser, not owner.
