it only occurs when the identity of the fb user is in question, as in someone has issued a new email to the account as an attempt to hack your fb


they were doing this as early as 2009, where i had to help a non tech friend upload a clear image of their driving licence in order to gain access to the account again.

so this is not new and only occurs when the account is in lockdown.

That's so retarded. They even ask you to cover up all your private information. So I can just photoshop a fake picture over an ID and still get what I want, without them ever knowing.

Not for me yet lol. if it does I'm just going to put a generic photo on.

Hubby's been out of town and when he got home last friday, he had to log in and they told him he was using an unidentified computer, (it's the same one he's had for a year or more) and they made him identify his Friends! They put up pics from their picture pages, not their profile picture and he couldn't identify them all. They threw pics at him until he identified enough. I gave him a ton of s#!@
for id'ing them. but I thought it was some kind of virus or something. this is scarier.

Send them fake id, I mean I'm just sayin.

Buckets of people will just hand it over. I checked this out, apparently it is not complete BS. I'm torn. I may just start letting my FB friends (who I all actually KNOW in person - we're just geographically distant now), that I'm leaving FB and I'll start updated my email address contacts again.

Just got off the phone with facebook. They confirm this is not real and that anyone getting a message like that is under attack from Malware/Virus.

facebook doesnt even have my real name and if they want a photo there are many many on the internet that can be used

what I hate and it's kiind of off topic but they put liberal ads on my page! like pro obama and trashing Sarah Palin type articles etc. How can I delete them???? Please.

Facebook is great. It's like a magnet to narcissists and sociopaths. Keeps them busy, and they can meet and victimize each other and leave us normal people alone.

Wife of Scribbler, just to differentiate and not speak for my hub (I hate to sign him out). here are a couple of things I found looking around. A fb FAQ That said they require users to register using real names, and will attempt to id and delete fake accounts. they might need to ask for a photo id if your account gets suspended to insure that you are who you say you are.

and then an online article from Nov. '10 stating "Facebook bug locks out Users, demands photo id..."

I wrestle with whether or not to keep my Fedsbook account open, so far the convenience of being able to keep connected to my many distant friends and family has won out. I do know that it's also a tool for the government "authorities" AND yes, even the corporate ptb to spy and keep tabs and attempt to control people. I like my privacy but it's not like I'm anyone they have an interest in. As a matter of fact they don't give a fuck about most of us individually, they just want to profit by us. The obvious lack of caring and notice is probably a large part of why some people get all bonkers and do drastic (and drastically stupid) things to get their attention.

Everybody who's over 35 and joined Fakebook should be branded as an idiot of significant measure.

Youth has its follies, and they don't yet know enough about the world, governments and especially History, so joining by them is understandable and excusable.

Those of us, who really understand what's going on, why and by who, stayed away from Fakebook as far as we could get.
