My daughter's history book is filled with the Progressive ideology. The "Share the Wealth" doctrine has been around for many years. It is mandatory that they study Al Gore's philosophy of global warming. The students have to watch his movie and write a paper on it. She has no choice but to participate, but I will be encouraging her to do more research into the true objectives behind global warming.

I would consider three weeks of class time to be pretty die hard. It would be different if they were to explore all popular religions, but the focus on one religion for that length of time is suspicious and flat out wrong in the American education system.

Just occurred to me..... betcha they take kids of gun owners. Want em back? turn in your guns. Something along those lines will go down. And they're all sitting in class waiting for the government bus to haul em off to FEMA camp.

How can something that is so crap, reported to be so abusive with beheadings, hangings, burning people alive, bombings, stoning people to death, facial/sexual disfigurement of women, child molestation/pedophilia...you name it the Muslims are doing it ...and yet it seems to be spreading like wildfire.

It is one thing to know ABOUT a religion verses committing it's tennet to heart through memorization...

Folks this has been about since about 2000, can you say, "No child left behind"?

I asked the teacher to allow my son to write an essay as opposed to having to recite/memorize the budist tennents...she threatened to flunk him out of 6th grade if he didn't do it exactly as she said...saying it was the STate of California standards for graduation from 6th grade...

I said the school would be hearing from my atterny, that based on religious beliefs she had to offer an alternative...

all my children know what the basic beliefs are for the majority of the worlds faiths...including the many sub-christian groups...

What I did protected not only my son, but the rights of every person in my community, whether they be athiest, wiccan, muslim, hindu, west african, what ever your orientation...

That is what made america great...Freedom....

Needless to say, my son graduated and went on to serve in the armed forces....

It is problematic when one religion is taught as history and others cannot be taught, especially since the the foundations of Christianity and Islam have roots in Judaism from a historical perspective. If you are going to teach one they need to be intertwined since they are are all related.

Then you should get into polytheism and how Hinduism is intertwined in Christianity, ect.

A lesson on comparative religion based in humanities is a worthy endeavor and would go along way to help shape tolerance and acceptance of all belief structure.

But in the end it is imperative that there remain a separation of church and state, therefore to allow true freedom in education eliminate the Department of Education

Free our education system from the manacles of an out of control federal government.
