*Prep Moochers: When People Think They're Going to Live Off "Your" Preparedness Supplies...*
*In the Event of a Disaster, the Following is Provided So You Will Know What is Expected of You Should You Decide to Come to My House*

[link to standeyo.com]

*YOU WILL NEED TO BRING:*

*1. CLOTHING* - Nothing fancy - just good, sturdy, easy care clothes. We will probably have to wash by hand and dry on a line, so plan accordingly. There will be no dry cleaning available. Also, bring rain gear.

*2. PLAIN BLEACH AND OTHER CLEANERS* - Plain bleach will be used in water purification as well as general cleaning. More people means more cleaning to keep a healthy environment.

*3. FOOD* - No explanation needed.

*4. BEDDING OR SLEEPING BAG* - I have floor space - not bed space. I also have two dogs who think anything on the floor is theirs! No, I will not put them outside.

*5. WEAPONS, AMMO, FISHING GEAR* - There will come a time when we will have to hunt and fish for our food. Weapons and ammo will be locked up for safety.

*6. PRESCRIPTION MEDICINE(S), FIRST AID SUPPLIES* - You will need your medicines even in the aftermath of a disaster. Be sure to bring plenty because it may be a long time before you get more. Bring all first aid supplies even if it is just a box of band aids.

*7. PAPER TOWELS, TOILET PAPER, TRASH BAGS* - No explanation needed.

*8. SOAP, SHAMPOO, TOOTHPASTE, ETC*. - You will need to keep yourself clean.

*9. BOARD GAMES, CARDS, A BOOK OR TWO* - These will be used during a little downtime before bed or during any other free time that may come available. There may not be any electricity, so don't plan on just watching movies or playing video games.

*10. ANYTHING ELSE YOU CAN THINK OF TO HELP MAKE LIFE AFTER DISASTER A LITTLE MORE ENJOYABLE.*

*PLEASE NOTE*: EVERYTHING EXCEPT CLOTHING, BEDDING AND PRESCRIPTIONS WILL GO INTO HOUSE STORES FOR EVERYONE'S USE.

"YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO WORK FOR THE HOUSE EACH DAY. THE FOLLOWING LIST IS TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT WILL BE EXPECTED OF EACH PERSON. THE WORK INVOLVED WILL DEPEND ON THE NEEDS OF THE HOUSE.

*1. DAILY CHORES* - These will include, but not be limited to, cooking the meals and cleaning up afterward, washing clothes and hanging out to dry, sweeping the floors, cleaning the bathrooms.

*2. HUNTING AND FISHING, AS NEEDED* - This will also include cleaning the kill or catch, filleting as needed, and preparing for cooking. The hides will also have to be scraped, salted, and stretched to tan. Sewn together, even small hides can be used to make clothes.

*3. GARDENING, AS SEASON ALLOWS* - This will include, but not be limited to, starting seeds inside in late winter, tilling ground, planting outside, weeding, watering, and harvesting. We may even can or dry any extra vegetables should the crop be good.

*4. HAUL WATER AND PURIFY IT* - Kentucky Lake is one mile away. The water will need to be purified before it can be used.

*5. CHOP OR GATHER FIREWOOD *- When the propane runs out, or to supplement it to make it last longer, we'll cook outside on an open fire, weather permitting. We will have to heat our water this way for washing dishes, general cleaning, bathing, etc.

AND ANY OTHER TASK REQUIRED TO HELP THE HOUSE SURVIVE.

REMEMBER - NO WORK - NO EAT - NO EXCEPTIONS!!

Seemed sharable in my opinion. I have quite a few friends whom I would like to utilize in the case of a shtf scenario. I will be printing these out and passing them out to the friends who I have carefully chosen to help me rebuild somewhere safe. I will not tolerate moochers.

It's a good list. Under item 10, I would add the phrase trade items. When people come to stay with you, they should expect to bring things to help maintain the community.

Bring good gloves and tools. Bring seeds, medicines, a canteen, weapons, seeds, matches, lanterns, batteries, you know what you need to bring. There's lots of lists.

Trade items are vital because we will run out. Trade will begin again, but it will take planning. I've written about reestablishing trade. See my sig for details or on very complex topics of prepping.

Good for you for also providing this information.

90% of people today haven't got a lick of sense. If you don't tell em what they need to bring, they won't bring it. They won't even show up with proper shoes, much less a good knife. The ones who bring knives will probably show up with a Rambo knife and then blister up their hands using it. They don't have proper gloves because they haven't worked with their hands. They'll make a million errors outside. They get lost easily. They're loud. They think everything is a joke. They can't start a fire. They burn food they're cooking. They are literally helpless babies.

Anyone who's willing to help a helpless baby is a Saint.

There will be a major die off as people dehydrate, starve, get ill, accidently cut themselves, die in battle. There will be a lot of things to harvest, but we will have to MacGuyver a lot. Those who can now, will thrive later. Thank God that I learned how to MacGuyver a long time ago.

God Bless You

MM look at my topic in my sig, and especially look at refrigeration. I wrote a four part series on it since it's crucial for food preservation, but also saving insulin.

Especially look at vacuum formation of ice at 80 deg F. That's something every prepper must learn.

If you knew anything about Type 1 Diabetes, then you'd know that they lose their legs eventually from circulatory issues. Pointing out their difficulty in prepping in such a grotesque way, shows a severe lack of class, and is the sign of a cold heart.

I am healthy and don't have Diabetes, but I've spent a lot of time discussing ways a Diabetic could cope post-collapse. See my sig for details on herbs, plants to grow, and ways to preserve your insulin.

Yep, they even did it in some backwoods areas after severe storms.

Farmers in the Great Drought zones have been stealing hay to feed their livestock.

When the SHTF, a lot of the rules of a normal society will go out the window. Don't lose your soul by doing that too. God is watching.

Why would I want to give you my food and guns for everyone else's benefit, and then work for you? If I have supplies the last thing I'm going to do is hand them over, and I certainly wouldn't be telling anyone about what I had. If you think people that want your stuff are going to knock and ask for it, think again. They'll kill you and take anything they want.

Hold off that email. Instead write a sincere email saying something like,

"Things look bad. We have a global economic depression. Great uncertainty. A Great Drought that rivals the Dust Bowl. Trouble in almost all Muslim nations. China and Japan having border disputes. An on-going radiation leak from Fukushima.

I have a rural location, but if things get bad, chances are I can't feed you all. It's impossible. If you're imagining that you can come here, then I need you to do these things first before coming.

Chances are we will starve if you come, because it would be impossible for me on my budget to feed everyone. However if we all worked together if something happened, we probably could grow and raise food.

Since that's many many months away, and food is harvested in Summer and Autumn, I need you to have realistic ideas."

Re: *Prep Moochers: When People Think They're Going to Live Off "Your" Preparedness Supplies...*

While a lot of people have guns, a lot of people are cowards. It's been forever, if at all, since they shot their weapon. Most people don't have the capability to fight this way.

In addition violent crime has plummeted since a decade ago. It's something like a 50% drop. While it's always possible for people to band together post-collapse, I believe that most people are talkers and not doers. They'll get dehydrated in the first 48 hours, drink water from hot water tanks, and then collapse. Some will live longer, but get progressively weaker and then die.

The sociopaths or people who have been in jail before plus druggies looking for a fix, those are the ones to worry about. See my sig for extensive details on determining how many of those folks live around you and planning for that eventuality.

Since many of them lack prepping skills, in my area they would likely die. Some won't and will organize and you'll be dealing with them for about the first 6 months of a post-collapse situation. They will either adapt, enslave people, or starve.

Enslavement and new feudal societies in rural areas is a possibility and worst case scenario.

what makes you think I would be giving YOU one of these lists personally? I said that these would be sent to close friends and family that I have hand picked. If you weren't willing to use you're tools and energy towards the thriving progression of the group, you would not last for very long in one.

God bless you. Grow bitter melon. It's an easy to grow vegetable. It reduce her blood sugar vastly. It will seriously help lower her blood sugar. In addition Fenugreek will also dramatically lower blood sugar. You can grow that too.

Bitter melon is an acquired taste. She'll need to eat lots of it every meal in a collapse. Fenugreek is in artificial maple syrup because that's what it tastes like. That's pleasant and will help. Good luck.

MM, you want to inspect her toes every day post-collapse. Someone needs to massage them and her legs to prevent issues with her circulation.

The main fear is loss of eyesight. There's little you can do except the bitter melon and fenugreek ingested to manage it.

That's tough because a worker post-collapse needs lots of sugar to do work. If you've watched any survivor show with amateurs, they use up the glycogen in their muscles and badly need simple carbs to get their blood sugar up, otherwise they collapse.

The best sweetener for a diabetic is agave nectar.

You should look into it, as it can be grown. It's often an aspect of Tequila production.

It's pretty safe to assume that a large portion of the population will due off due to lack of knowledge on how to survive off grid. Id estimate that by month 1, the only people left will be those that grouped and those that thrived in self reliant conditions.

I agree. I've studied that for decades. Re-read my reply on diabetes because I added stuff especially for your brother.

Ignore idiot trolls.

Yeah, if you can hold off for a month, most people will have died.

I talked about the amount of obese people once in great detail because we know from military studies on cachexia how long people can survive on little to no food. Some can make it for 6-8 weeks, but the issue is water. Lack of water will kill most by the first week.
