Ah, man...yeah it's definitely getting tougher. I'm jealous you're calling in, lol.

For me though, it has more to do with things being so up in the air right now as far as where it is I will be working. I'm a creature of habit and of mental preparation, so not knowing which way my future career path is heading is rather deflating for me.

In 1920, 86% of all households were 2 parent. White black and red. The growth of government has literally tracked in unison with the degradation of american society. They turned us on ourselves.

I'll go back in tomorrow... I just needed a day off... I get paid ok -- 18.25/hr.... but my job sucks BAD... I work 50-55 hrs a week and it's pure Hell.... I can never get caught up... The work load they dump on you is insurmountable.... And the work is highly stressful... Having to meeting dozens of highly-urgent deadlines on a daily basis... And even if you make 19 out of 20 deadlines... They will blow up on you for missing just that one.... There is NO room for error or failure... They expect perfection.... It is so unreasonable.... I can't take it anymore... I would gladly work a less stressful job for 14/15 dollars an hour.... Humans weren't made to live the way I've been living lately... It is destroying me both mentally and physically.... i'm not sure how much longer I can take it....

Its tough OP, I've been there. The corporate world is not my environment. Luckily I escaped after only two years and I was quite young. That's when I realised I had a soul cos i felt it getting sucked out of me! Run free! The universe will find a way to provide for you basic needs, food, shelter etc so long as you trust in it and know it will come through :)

Peace!

Is it really so much to ask for me to just tend to my crops, go home smoke a doober and play some guitar!? I Don't Think So!

Hi There 940,
Consider this...
Your conscience and quality of work (no doubt) have ALWAYS been top notch. As those WILLING to take-on excessive tasks are ultimately (in a falsified predatory environment) those that end-up doing EVERYTHING. No doubt there are several non-effectual managers 'above' you gleaning the rewards of YOUR labor/time.
Try an experiment for change...
This will of course, specifically VERY CHALLENGING for you.
But simply SCALE BACK your activity there. Consciously, stop COMPLETING EVERYTHING. Yes, they will hit you with all the CLASSIC overt and covert THREATS, as they KNOW your GREATEST (illusionary) FEARS!
Can you possibly DO THIS? Or are you so helplessly addicted to your own egotistical NEED for (cheap) outer-APPROVAL, you have no geniune INNER strength FOR your SELF?
Attempt to pay attention to your own mental and emotional REACTIONS to these illusionary corporations, money, and set-up events to keep you locked-in to this.
The worst case scenario IS NEVER as bad as your imagination and conditioning assume it to be (!)
This may be a LIFE AFFIRMING door for you...

Visualize the tarot card 'THE FOOL'. There is a lot there (!)

Yeah, I've been in limbo since September. Funny thing is that I've been working at this new job for the last 12 years as an outside contractor. They want to hire me directly so as to save on mark up. It's a slam dunk no brainer of a decision, but here I am still in the same position. 1dunno1

It's causing a lot of internal conflicts of interest that I'd just rather not deal with.

Your HR department has ten thousand resumes of people salivating for your job.

They will simply have to choose between the Veteran with the Bronze star and an MBA, or the CPA with a decade of on the job experience...

... to start at minimum wage and no benefits to begin working up to your position.

Jobs are tough to get out there. Don't piss yours away.

Calling in sick is a cowardly way to deal with the stress.

Your boss probably takes you for granted. A clear one-on-one point blank talk with him or her about the stresses you are under -- and your value to the company -- spoken as adult to adult in diplomatic language may earn you some appreciation, and some assistance in clearing your desk.

Some bosses are lazy and task their best, non-complaining workers with all the hard stuff.

I've been a stay-at-home mom for two years, going on three now, and I want to lynch myself. I love my son, and would do it all over again, no buts. It's very confining though, most of my friends do not have children, and we're broke all of the time anyway.

This May I will be graduating and re-entering the workforce. I love working and making my own money. I hated having to be dependent on my child's father, though he has done his best to try and earn enough so that I could stay with our son. He is a wonderful father, but a horrific mate.

ha ha ha

they could care less
in most companies

i did this once on a job

i did a job of 3 people and couldn't take it ; some of my co workers who were in good with boss went golfing with boss while the others on the team slaved away

i said something to boss a hole

and got more work

this shit doesn't work in most cases

not unless you are dealing with nice level headed normal folk and

this is not the case in most of corporate world

they will look at you as a liability for saying you want less 'stress' and

find ways to get rid of you

I have a piddly part-time retail job.

The company loves to send memos about how proud they are to be one of "the 500".

I worked, did my best, learned every position in the store from cashier, to stock, to counting their deposits.

Evaluation and raise time arrived. I got a gushing, 5-star evaluation and my raise? 13 cents. Yep.

My efforts now match my pay. It has made no difference.
And, anyway, I'm there for spending money and I don't spend much anyway.

They don't care as long as the job gets done--even shoddily--and there are enough employees in the store to allow the managers to hang out in the office all day.
