I have a piddly part-time retail job.
The company loves to send memos about how proud they are to be one of "the 500".
I worked, did my best, learned every position in the store from cashier, to stock, to counting their deposits.
Evaluation and raise time arrived. I got a gushing, 5-star evaluation and my raise? 13 cents. Yep.
My efforts now match my pay. It has made no difference.
And, anyway, I'm there for spending money and I don't spend much anyway.
They don't care as long as the job gets done--even shoddily--and there are enough employees in the store to allow the managers to hang out in the office all day.
