Not surprising to me if kids and their parents are getting in trouble with the law for missing school while sick. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32547856 That right there!!!! Don't think it won't happen. And not meaning to ramble on to the gun control topic, but this is an example of why the 2nd amendment should not be infringed upon. The amendment is to protect the people from the government, and yes, that would include assault rifles. I totally agree with this. We have many guns and will fight to protect our 2nd amendment rights. Chances are, my homeschooling curriculum will include them learning to grow vegetables, milk goats, and shoot guns lol. Skills I'd teach them anyway, but might be necessary before long :\ these are scary times we live in You are right. It is very scary. And I shutter to think if we had no defense whatsoever against the government. Everyday we have new laws implemented that do infringe on our rights. That also includes our children. She missed school on Tuesday, and I received the call yesterday! How about that for big brother? "May the road rise up to meet you.... May the wind be always at your back..." |

My 8 year old 2nd grader brought home a letter from his principal threatening JUVENILE PROBATION for my son and a misdemeanor charge for me if he continued to miss school due to illness. He missed 3 days last semester!!! And he's 8 fucking years old. I know their funding is directly related to attendance... So I guess the remaining public educators DO care more about $$$ than the kids. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20373817 Homeschooling is looking better and better every fucking day. And I received a call yesterday (automated) from the I district noting my daughter had 5 unexcused absences and if she missed another day, a social worker may be called. She just turned 7. And you know what they can do? Shove that social worker right up their asses. One more year of public then it's off to a private school where my other two are. damn where do you guys live...cause I thought NY state was bad...I have not heard of anything like this at all...and I have lots of nieces and nephews who are young as well.. Cobb county. Georgia. And this is one of the most conservatives counties in the state. I received the same call last year... Kindergarten. I'm assuming its meant more for the parents who are neglectful and have issues, but it still gets under my skin, and...... Does kinda scare me. :( social worker? oh wow... kindergarten too? Well I saw you say your other two are in private school. That sounds like your best bet. Yes it is scary when they threaten with social workers...when there is no excuse for that at all. Not like your abusing your children or anything. I would be very upset either way. The times my kid got sick was because of other kids who were sick in his class etc. One time he caught it from me. These schools scare me now...I am just surprised it's not happenin in NYS...yet... |

People freaking about kids missing 9 days of school just goes to show indoctrinated we've become. How did we ever survive as a nation before all the regulations? How did we ever have so much innovation and invention back when schools were local, and run with common sense rules? Do you think kids got smarter with all the government intervention? |

Contact Home School Legal Defense Association, look them up online. DO NOT open the door to a social worker DO NOT let them into your home without a warrent. (unlawful searc, etc.) You DO NOT want to become involved in the juvenile justice system--even lawyers don''t want the cases--it's like the Wild West. Homeschooling is difficult but extremely rewarding. Read the HSLDA website and check out the laws in your state regarding threats for absence during illnesses. |
