Manti Te'o and his imaginary girlfriend.

When this story first broke I was talking to friends about it and we thought this might of been made up by Manti to gain sympathy to get more votes for the Heisman trophy and to get drafted higher in the NFL draft. We thought it was a hoax designed just for this. So he says his "so called girlfriend" dies on the same say as his Grandmother. His Grandmother did of course die on that day and of course my heart goes out to him for the loss of his Grandmother.

That being said I felt a little sick to my stomach, was he using the death of his Grandmother combined with the "so called" death of his imaginary girlfriend to benefit somehow

I thought and do did my friends that the motive of this must have been done to get chosen higher in the NFL draft, done to get more money and of course go after the Heisman trophy.

Me and my friends thought this way, because we thought no one could possibly be that stupid. We agreed that he would have gone to meet the woman, perhaps do some Skype sessions where they could look at each other. You would think they would have seen each other at some point, but no. We came to the conclusion that this was a scam done my Manti. As I said before, no one could possibly be that stupid, that naive. It just didn't seem that was possible.

Well it comes out now that at least a thousand calls were made on Manti's phone to his imaginary girlfriend in a 661 area code, 110 of those calls were over an hour long.

I stand corrected in my belief that no one could possibly be that stupid, because apparently it is possible for someone to be that stupid and naive.
