I've got a few starts for fiction. Couple hundred pages of various writings.

Problem is, it is harder to 'sell' and takes longer to put together.
 Quoting: Septenary Man

that says you see what you wish to achieve (write)
 Quoting: aether

That is true. But, it is just so voluminous. There is SO much.

I think Oyster had a good idea, creating a series of works.

My problem, is I will begin writing a number of different things, as I cannot stay on one 'topic' for long. It is like my reading habits. I read about 6 books at a time.

Re: Thinking About Something
maybe you should consider a series of books instead of trying to cram it all into one or beat yourself up over which topic to write about.

give us your manifesto first and then break specifics with follow up books.
 Quoting: Oyster

Oyster, that is exactly what I was thinking, and the reason for this thread...to get ideas on how to develop my concepts.
 Quoting: Septenary Man

oh, sorry if you explained that already and i missed it or misread it.

Whatever happened about the radio interview you were going to do last year?
 Quoting: WeAreOne

Project Camelot backed out.

I've gotten a couple other offers already for interviews, but I haven't followed up completely yet. I've had too much personal stuff going on recently to want to think about it.

as a follower of your threads, you opened my eyes to how the universe is constructed.

some of your older threads talked about how our sun is traveling through space and us (and the other planets) are following it, creating the spiral. this idea alone made me think about space differently and has always left me wondering where the hell we are going.

now there is alot more to it then that and i dont have to tell you because...well...you wrote it. but my point is that for someone who was never more than a casual observer of the universe you made me THINK about what is out there, what is really going on and that we we've been taught in school isnt necessarily the end-all and be-all of what is going on.

i think you would rope alot of casual observers like myself in if you started the series with this topic.

I just love writing. And (probably the only time I will brag, lol) I am really good at it. It has been the only thing I have ever wanted to do as far as a 'career'.

What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be a writer...always have since the first time I can remember reading my first book.

The first paragraph of the sci-fi I was/am writing, tentatively titled Heroes of Scythe and Gossamer:

The dark surroundings I found myself in paralleled my mood; damp and black, swirling in a vacuum of apprehension. The sickly sweet breath of the alien night air was dripping with humidity and cacophonous with the cries of unfamiliar nocturnal insects whose songs - a strange litany dark with the unforgiving anxiety that only the truly alien can evoke - rose vociferous and sustained as if all at once protesting my intrusion into their night.

All this is linking up good for the sci-fi idea.

So far I have about 50 pages on the sci-fi before I set it aside.

On a personal note, what I'd love to read is a book about aliens that was truly alien. Where the relationships had to be explained without anthropomorphic content as to create the leap of conciousness which would truly enlighten the reader.

the prerequisite to know thy self
is
know what you are within that enables you to express that which you know (self)
the 2
something is alawys within something to express being something within

the know thy self was conceived in an era when it was believed only god (any god) and people possessed consciousness

thus it encourages people to express themselves as the god they believe in
and
no other way but that way because all things other than people are devoid of conscious thus are lifeless matter (inconsequential)
and
all people whom do not know the way of your god are ignorant because they have forgotten your way

this is the archetype of order local tradition style of most orders

while they seek the correct structure to fit their structure of order to make their order the universal order

My idea for that was to be 1 alien species that is at 3 different evolutionary stages, but are all existing in the same time frame. Not even the aliens know this, until the reader does, by the main character finding it out.

I could incorporate your idea into it and shift the concept a little, but again, it would slide in nicely to my overall idea.

Basically, the two main characters are somewhat consciously connected. When one of the characters gets taken by ET, she is killed, and her 'soul' floods into the alien systems, the alien systems being based off of our previous Golden Age thoughts...in other words working purely through electricity and magnetism...and consciousness.

By merging with them, she changes as much as the aliens change through her mergence. The leap of consciousness occurring, then discovered by the second main character.

Oh, and there are no humans in the story, though the two main characters are most like humans.

The entire story takes place in a small world that is the interior of a torus shaped construct where the center 'column' is the 'sun'. The sun rises as it goes up the column, and sets at the top, with the energy of it dispersing out through the skein of the torus (the ground of the world) supplying the world's energy.

I would gladly purchase your book. You have much knowledge on this subject.

My advice, write it as if you were writing for a bright twelve year old. The info is hard to grasp without a prerequisite education on the subject matter. Montalk's "Fringe Knowledge For Beginners" would be a good model . Think of it as a long introduction to a behemoth second work.

Go for it.

Re: Thinking About Something
I'm thinking about putting together a book. I have always felt writing to be my calling, and have written all my life. Yet here I sit behind a desk doing data entry and collections. But it has worked out well because I am in front of the computer all day, and as long as I get my scheduled work done for the day, I can visit GLP.

I have had a number of short stories and smaller articles already published. There was a publisher in the United Kingdom that was interested in some of my writings about 5 years ago now. I also had the publisher that did Jim Sparks book on his ET encounters, The Keepers, interested in my experiences and my writings, but that was in early 2008 when the economy tanked and they didn't feel comfortable doing it at the time.

God knows I have enough information written and in my head. I was thinking of putting it all into one book and tying it all together, but I don't think that is going to work well. I've got so many contacts now it is ridiculous, and I feel this is the time to do it, but I am having difficulty deciding what to make a book about.

I can edit myself and all that good stuff as well. I can publish via pdf or even finish one and put it on Amazon as a pdf download or Kindle book.

I've got hundreds of pages of all sorts of different topics, though to me they are all inter-related. Perhaps I will finish writing my lucid dreaming book for starts. I want to stay away right now from any of my ET experiences, as I still feel people are not ready to accept that reality. Then, there is all this technical stuff I write about.

I need to start organizing all this writing I do, both here on GLP and at my home office, so I can do something with my life.

I'm putting this out there for a couple of reasons. One is to get the ball rolling for me to start organizing and putting together all the information. Another is to get advice from you guys on what would be my best option as far as ingredients for getting a book done.
 Quoting: Septenary Man

Wow. This won't impact you at all, but this is incredible. I've been mentally writing a book for ages now and keep meaning to get around to it but work gets in the way.

But as a coincidence, I texted my brother the other night to get his new home number to ring him and when he'd texted and I rang he siad, "That was amazing. I was just walking to my bookshelf to choose a book to read and a voice in my head said, "Tell [insert my name here] she should write a book; she's a natural born story teller". He said as he heard/thought that, at that second his phone went off with my text.

Anyway, then tonight I log in here (after being caught up in an ISP wide ban for days) and one of the first threads I click on is this one - not realising it's about writing.

Sorry, as you were. I just had to get that off my chest and I'll be keeping an eye on this to see if anyone has any good advice for how to go about getting published :)

I am working on a graphic novel and I can tell you that the best thing for you to do is to make sure that you have blood pumping through your body so take exercise breaks one of the things that Dan Brown did was he hung upside down from the bars and pull ups I mean you can exercise do yoga take some breaks.

Also when you are writing a book or even in my case making a graphic novel always always always have a skeleton for it because that always makes it easier and you won't get as stuck.

Have someone proofread it like maybe somebody on here or one of your friends.

Anyway that's my two cents I'm really excited to work on my book too, good luck to you!

Yes, the energy levels in the body must be high. And, I always create outlines or 'skeletons' when writing anything of length.

Good stuff, and good luck with your graphic novel!

Re: Thinking About Something
if you write in dialogues, it will be clearer whether you express things the way you intended or not...

Re: Thinking About Something
Get in, and stay in, your chair and write. If you want to be a writer, write. Don't talk about it, simply do it. Anything else is simply a masturbatory exercise and you'll toss your nut talking about what you're going to write instead of just writing.

Heminway's goal (despite what some may think of him) was to write simple declarative sentences. He did that well. He knew how to kill his darlings.

I live in NYC and I hear a lot of "theatre" people talking loudly in resturants and coffee shops about their craft. Unfortunately, I see, and hear, them frequently. Their stage has become the resturants and coffee shops they speak loudly in.

Where's your page?

A writer, writes.
