there is proof that much of the world's dry land has at one time been covered with water.
however, not all at the same time.
and certainly not within a 6,000 year time frame.
Quoting: david 16910407 "Now the earth proved to be formless and waste and there was darkness upon the surface of the watery deep; and God's active force was moving to and fro over the surface of the waters"- Genesis 1:2 yes, at one time the earth was only covered with water- at the beginning of earths creation, and that was all at the same "time"- the flood of Noah's day occurred later and yes, the flood waters covered the earth at the same time. "And the waters continued overwhelming the earth a hundred and fifty days."- Genesis 7:24 I see you were talking about the one before Noah, There was a global one before Noah though.
