You have to consider assets and debts. A person making 500k a year who owes 1 million and is leveraged to the hilt isn't really rich. It's always assets vs. liabilities both in the short an long term. People should learn to adjust their assets and income. Meanwhile you might consider a person who makes 100k a year, has no debts and assets (bonds, cash, etc.) of 1 million would be considered very well off but not super rich. Super rich is 10 million or over with no debts and major assets that are unemcumbered. |

That better takes into account number of dependants and factors like that. -$1000 to 0 is poverty 0 to $50 is poor $50 to $100 borderline poor $100 to $500 is middle $500 to $2000 us UMC $2000 and over is rich When I was a kid my dad had a heavy mortgage in the 70's and 80's that he was paying 20% a year on. He made good money but we were fucking poor. We sure lived like it anyway. He had nothing left at the end of the week. |

It depends. If your house is paid off and you only have monthly bills to pay for and you are retired and single then you can live like a king with much less than others who are weighed down with debt, house payments, kids and a wife, etc...etc...etc. . |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 25564366 United States 01/24/2013 11:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "Rich" is more like bill gates or warren buffet level, where you're stilll stuck in dealing with terms of mere market share. "Wealthy" is having 'fuck you' money so that you can live off the interest and still afford to have your own jet. If you've got $100 million you can still make a couple million a year on the interest just sitting around smoking weed. Everyone else is just a peon because they're still having to "work". |

For a man to support his family, and not be a slave to borrowing it takes about $150,000 per year to support that. That would be at a typical 1965 level, not 50 year mortgage, 7 year car payments, with a wife at home, etc.. Not so many people make that anymore (most Jews do, and much much more too. They make sure each other makes that when they hire each other. You non-Jews are just cattle and to be pulled down and stolen from). A few in each mediaum to large company. The rest have to be slaves to borrowing and doing without, while the welfare Queens and illegal aleians drive around in brand new Caddilac escalades. So, really there are no definitions of poor rich,,,,but if you ahve no money like a homeless man, you certainly are cash poor. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 25564366 United States 01/24/2013 11:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Wow, after reading the other replies I'm amazed at how small people think. The idea of owning an entire country doesn't even seem to compute in most people's minds. You think that $100k is "rich". If you think $100k is rich and you think it's hard to get rich, then your own thinking process is blocking you making any progress toward that because you can't imagine yourself being rich. You need to define rich as being $100 million and then it will be mentally a lot easier to get to $100k or $1M. |
