Depends on how much money you're willing to spend. These days the IPad is really good and travels well. IF you want a laptop - get a mac book pro.

I definitely love my mac...had a dell in the past and a mac is just so much more user friendly. But I also have an iPhone as well and love that.

So my vote would be a mac...either desktop or laptop.

Get an HP. My Toshiba's Windows 8 crashed for no reason. And my Dell I have now is a piece of shit that's been blue screening for no apparent reason. Had an HP before worked great but I was dumb and dropped it...

As for OP,, depends on what you need it to do,, and I wouldn't get a tablet unless maybe one of the latest Microsoft Surfaces,, but those are expensive as hell,, and those Lenovo Yoga Pros (laptop that flips back keyboard for tablet like function) are pretty sweet too, but again, running close to that $2k mark,, if you just want a good computer for work that can run pretty much anything you through at it,, I'd get one of the newer Lenovo Ideapads,, they're mid range on price, (1k-1.5k, even cheaper if you get bottom specs), light weight, aesthetically appealing, and powerful (with like the y400, y500, y510p, in i5 or i7 chips,, but I will admit my preferences are geared more towards gaming/editing) Either way, I'd say go Ideapad w/ Windows 7.

I'd get the new iMac.
