They said on the news tonight that out of the 1200 positions, only 130 were filled.

In Israel, both men & women are required to serve 2 years in the Israeli Defense Force when they turn 18.

I'm a traditional female and I married a man with traditional values like me. I have never championed women's lib and I am fine being comsiderd the weaker sex. I never wanted any of this crap. All the fem nazis should be forced into combat and women like me should be able to opt out.

Don't be upset with the OP. Sound like he might have served in the military. He makes some good points but didn't come across that way.

The point of this is, currently we have a volunteer Army. If we get involved in another conflict there are not enough enlisted bodies to do the job, which could lead to a draft.

I sat with my guy friends and watch the the lotto draft balls being pulled on TV back in the Vietnam era. Some of my friend with lower numbers went to Nam and never came home.

As a mother, I have accepted the fact that some day my son might be called up and asked to defend our country. I DO NOT want my daughter drafted to serve on the front lines....And she doesn't want to go either. When everyone was jumping up and down because woman can now serve in battle I don't think folks added the thought of a draft into the equasion.

I disagree.

Women should not be in combat roles even though some may be very good at it. Women should not be required to register for selective service.

I do not thinkk that men should be required to either however. THe process is old and outdated.

If there is a war today that requires a draft then we should not be fighting it.
