I am intrigued, and horrified at the reality factor in this story. It really wouldn't take much to turn most people to mob mentality...

What's strange is that I actually had an idea for a story about 'leveling the playing field' in regards to our money system. If the "one percent" holds 85% of the money, what would happen if all of a sudden the computers decided to flip that around? (I guess it would be a hacker thing too)I had the scenario of a rich person all of a sudden finding they had $0.00 in their accounts, and at the same time, everyone else who struggled found six figures in their accounts...
I wonder if the violence would be the same...or if it would be more of a feeding frenzy as the regular folks who had money all of a sudden went on crazy shopping sprees.
Would it all eventually balance out, or would that one percent declare war on the rest of us and try to get their money back?

Anyway, it bears thinking about. If the cash and credit system ever failed, I'm sure your scenario wouldn't be too far off...
