PREPPERS FOR DOOMSDAY. | |
Lucky Charms User ID: 32992249 Ireland 01/25/2013 08:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Looking around, civilization seems to be somewhat in the shitter. But it could be argued that civilization has always been in the shitter... The old saying "better safe than sorry" springs to mind. Also, in the event of natural disaster, war or any other emergency situation, at least they'll be given a head start. 'Magically Delicious' |

A natural disaster could strike at any moment. Prepping is being prepared for anything... impending sign or not. I'd rather have food stored for a freak power outage, earthquake, or whatever and not need it, then not have it when I do need it. |

I know people that have under ground bunkers. Most of us have food put away. In the mountains, It just makes sense to be ready for anything. We could get a blizzard that traps us for a week or more. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. "America is at that awkward stage. It's too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards." -- Claire Wolfe |

Don't buy into the overpopulation myth. |

Don'tBeAfraid User ID: 32113282 United States 01/25/2013 09:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Who think it is wise to do some kind of prepping for any kind of doomsday,is there really ANY signs or evidence for any kind of prepping?.... Quoting: nightrunner Hmmm. OK, I'll bite. This is a different tack on prepping for most discussion is illogical. Let's break it down. As a critical thinker, it's always wise to prepare. Preparing means to have three things: time, talent, treasure. Time is difficult to manage. We perceive a lack of time. That means focusing on removing obstacles that chew up time like grist. Then as you eliminate mindless entertainment, you have more time. More time means you can begin prepping by strategic planning. Most people don't plan at all, they just flow along in a stream. That means that their lives are a result of being carried along in a pattern. That usually gets them in trouble at some point. Talent is the acquisition of skills that have merit. Since many skills for a prepper result in more time, they are very valuable. Many skills build other skills and so create more talent. Many skills result in the creation of wealth, and hence very valuable too. Treasure is a surplus of wealth. The absence is poverty. For preparedness we need supplies. Axcquiring talents which produce supplies, or allocating treasure for the purpose of preparedness often results in lower prices for those supplies. That perpetuates the creation of wealth. Doomsday? Hardly plausbile. Hardly possible. One doesn't prep for Doomsday, for by definition Doomsday is not survivable. Planning for a disaster is always possible. Disaster can happen as a result of a loss of employment, divorce, the death of a family member. It also can happen based upon weather. It also can happen based upon famine. It also can happen as a result of war. Preparedness usually translates to more security and hence it aids everything above. Severe disasters can happen. In history they've happened many times. A person who prepares well can lessen the amount that a severe disaster affects them. Will we have a severe disaster? Is that what you're getting to? It's possible. There have been numerous report prepared for the federal government of the USA as well as corporations. Severe disasters include: Epidemics which may become Pandemics, severe interuptions of the supply chain, a world war, EMP based upon solar activity or a rogue state launch of a weapon, a major change in weather, etc. Less likely severe disasters also exist. Those are usually Doomsday events. Things like an Ice Age, Nuclear War and Winter, a Comet hitting the Earth, the Sun cooling, etc. Those have a very low possibility and have low plausibility too. When preparing for those thing, then we look foolish to others. Prepare for personal disaster instead, for that is always plausible. Learning skills, growing your own food, focusing upon God and Nature, these things build us up. They are admirable qualities. People may think we're anachronistic for doing ancestral skills when we can merely go to the grocery store, however since they build up the mind/body/spirit of us, then they are worthwhile.
