My step son commited suicide 6 years ago.. I am hyper sensitive to this situation.

I have yet to see a suicide thread saved by Jesus.
What happens is:
A) Person says they are going to kill themselves.
B) A bunch of concerned people respond with various methods.
C) We never hear from OP again and either become immune to it or wander through the day with this sense of just having been to a funeral.

I realize that but if someone is feeling hopeless why wouldn't you reach out?

Should we say.. "Sorry wrong number" and hang up?

Giving them attention and a platform isn't a good thing, either.

The trouble is the interweb is full of moranic trolls. GLP as wonderful as it is for most of the time has it's fair share.

It would only take one piece of stupidity from a troll to tip any person who is genuinely suicidal over the edge. And I'm sure the ownership here doesn't wany GLP being cited in any follow-up news report.

It's a tough one but I think removing threads which are at the extreme end of the scale in that regard probably the safest and best thing to do.
