Maybe besides plastic gadgets made in China some people also want to obtain something beautiful and holy..it takes time to look beyond what appears to be ..to see the true heart and soul of a person..time and wisdom

He had no friends.. no family.. no money.. no job..no talent etc.

I can't remember the rest of the content. I started reading the responses and they just blew my mind apparently literally as I can't recall it in it's entirety

I would like to think it could...and it is very thoughtful for you to care so much that you would even post a thread to try and reach him.

That being said, it ISN'T a suicide hotline...but, I think that people can feel a close attachment to the people on the forum, and feel that it is the only one's they can reach out to. It is a tough call.

For those who are being unfeeling...please remember...that is what is happening to our Government, and the closer you get to being unfeeling, the closer you get to being just like them. :)

I can understand that. I have only been on for a short time, and have read a couple of suicide threads. It left me feeling quite empty when I didn't know what the outcome was. It is hard to deal with.

I think maybe we should have a help hotline or thread here on Glp..for those that need even if just a kind word..
I am sure many would volunteer to help

Please know there are those who care and understand. I know something of how you feel. Those who have never experienced bad depression might not understand how desperate you can feel. When you feel like that, it is hard to think clearly and logically. Like a dark, thick, cloudy fog descends on your mind, on your very spirit.

Sometimes, I have a strong feeling that there's a greater picture. It's as if we're trying to travel along a wild river with dangerous torrents, and thinking that this is all there is. But then rising high up in the sky and looking down on this long winding river. Seeing where the torrents end, and a calm begins. And then seeing more torrents and more calms. But most importantly seeing where the river is going and understanding why, and it all making sense. I feel right now we simply, for whatever reason, don't (consciously, at least) have the whole picture.

A bit like, when you have formed a negative opinion about something or someone, and then more information comes along and you gain a deeper understanding and realise what you previously thought was not really how it is because it was based on a limited understanding.

So I think maybe that is how it is about life. And this can bring me a little hope in those dark moments. I hope this helps a little. If not, try to find comfort in knowing you are not alone in those dark momnts, and that others who truly care are thinking of you, like I do you now.

No it isn't a suicide hotline. Seriously does that matter?

It is quite simply a real flesh and blood human being reaching out hoping to make contact with another flesh and blood human being.

It is not a tough call for me at all really. As a Christian my feelings are .. If I stand by and do nothing and God forbid something were to happen.. that individual's blood is on my hands. No brainer. I would much rather error on the side of being conceived as being improper as opposed to turning my back on someone who was feeling so desperate they were contemplating taking their life.

Forgive me if I sound harsh.. I certainly don't mean to. I'm just frustrated is all.
I can't believe so many are so willing to compartmentalize on a life and death situation and say "sorry... go call 911.. this isn't the right place for you to reach out".

Although than the others would cry out that the "religitards" are getting preferential treatment.

I understand the reasoning; I have seen horribly cruel things said to such posters and cringe to think they may have been pushed over the edge by something they read here when most everyone else is trying to comfort them.

BUT is it possible that perhaps mods &/or people they ask to help could respond to the distraught person after taking down the thread? For whatever it is worth, at least an effort would have been made.

it really isn't about us and how we feel or how hard it is for us to deal with.

It's about extending a hand or a heart of hope, at least until someone who is better equipped to encourage them can fill in.

I agree with you. What i offered the person who was feeling that way, was for them to personally contact me, and I would talk to them about it.

This place has alot of emotionally "retarded" people, who will give really bad advice, or joke around with them, and that can be a really good reason to not have them come here. I think in situations like this, it would be good for GLP to have the names of a few sites that the person could go to. Not everyone here is going to be educated or feeling enough to say the right things.
