URGENT EVACUATION MESSAGE FOR BUNDABERG: LET YOUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES KNOW RIGHT NOW!!!!

QLD Police are now calling FOR AN IMMEDIATE EVACUATION OF NORTH BUNDABERG RESIDENTS. Residents are urged to IMMEDIATELY evacuate to the Civic Centre or Bundaberg State School.

Please share this ASAP to anyone up in this area.

UPDATE, 12.30PM SUNDAY: RESIDENTS of North and East Bundaberg have been urged to evacuate within the hour, with the Burnett River already at 7m and rising.

"Things have escalated very quickly and we're looking at an 8.5m flood," Mayor Mal Forman told a press conference a short time ago.

Cr Forman said the local disaster management committee had ordered the self-evacuation of North Bundaberg, which was happening right now

"It is very serious," he said.

"The Tallon Bridge is not closed yet, but it will be. People are going around doorknocking now, trying to get them to shift."

Bundaberg Police Superintendent Rowan Bond said the escalation in seriousness of the flood was "only very recent".

"It's more than a precaution," Supt Bond said.

"The gravity of the situation is very serious and we require everyone in North Bundaberg in low-lying areas right now to evacuate."

Disaster managers have also urged people in East Bundaberg who were either affected or almost affected in the 2010 Christmas flood to evacuate within the hour.

All roads to and from Bundaberg have been cut.

Watching channel 7 and Newman is speaking with a couple of Bargara residents at their house. So did he just bring words or some basic supplies and water for some immediate relief. Just words. Tells them to go to some centre and they'll get $900 no questions asked. Thing is it looked liked his vehicles were trashed and how far is this 'centre' anyway. I wonder if he'll offer a lift if they need it.

These idiots in power need to get their shit together. Apparently residents in parts of Bundaberg are being told to evacuate as the bridges in and out will be closed in about an hour. And then the idiot newsreader on 7 is telling people to stay put in their homes and keep off the roads. FFS. From what I've seen the roads are covered in debris anyway so how should they evacuate - on foot?

These idiots should have called in the army and transport vehicles by now to take them to a relief centre that is already pre-stocked with supplies and etc - they've had more than a few years to organise and prepare for situations like this and it seems it's only going to become more the 'norm' weather wise.

I am worried about the people of Bundy right now. There's going to be plenty of roof top rescues needed, 8.5m flooding

Well the Burnett river bridge is now closed, effectively isolating North from South Bundaberg. Bunch of retards we have in power for environmental emergencies. This ex cyclone has basically travelled from the far north eastern coast down to Brissy and expected to reach Sydney. Frankie could do a better job than these clowns.

And yet I'm sitting up here in North Qld with a beautiful day happening outside now - compared to start of the week when it passed over us but fornately we somehow missed the doom it bought. Yes Bundeberg has already surpassed 2010 flooding. We just keep setting records here in Queensland.

yup just waiting for the power to go down now... still got a genny (which i can't start.. but it did last week).. and the laptop (for about an hour on batteries)...

is all good.. plenty of beer... and just a 2 day wait... ;)
