Neim-Ya'shar, this is a little off topic.

I have a serious question for you.

What is the correct interpretation of Revelations 13:10?

There are 2 completely different wordings that give different interpretations.

The first one I will show from the King James Version:

He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

I believe that this verse means that people who have put others in captivity will become captives. It also seems to say that people who have killed will be killed. And the last part seems to say that people who have been victimized by this violence should be patient until this day.

Now here is a completely different word and translation from the New International Translation.

If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity he will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword he will be killed. This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of the saints.

This interpretation seems to say that followers of Christ should expect to become prisoners and to be killed. This interpretation says that followers of Christ must endure this treatment.

Do you get what I am saying?

THEY ARE COMPLETELY OPPOSITE!!!

The KJ version seems to say that followers of Christ are on the offensive. The NIV says that followers of Christ are on the run and getting slaughtered.

Which one is it?!

Which one is the correct interpretation....I am actually lost.

This verse is simply rounding off the implications of verses 4 to 9

The wicked has been taking the children of israel captive as slaves throguh out the earth. They killed by the sword and destroyed nations by violence. They will be recompensed.

I will show you something again how this relate to esau's children the Idumeans=jewish=romans=greeks who rule the earth today and suppress the poor of the earth

gen 27:40
And by your sword shall you live, and shall serve your brother; and it shall come to pass when you shall have the dominion, that you shall break his yoke from off your neck

The patience of the saints are Gods people who are and have been going through these tribulations. This will continue until the times of the gentiles are fulfilled. We are to be patient and watchful in prayer.
