Nice to see a fellow stokie on here :) I saw the flash then the boom in Baddeley Green If our ancestors could see us now they would have picked their own damn cotton. |

Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it. - Buddha (Kalama Sutta.) |

My first thought was lighting but I know it was not, it was like a huge camera flash going off. It was low down as well not in the sky really weird. it's busy over dartmoor right now. those signals are not necessarily meteors. |

| ScarfNZ User ID: 31669436 01/26/2013 06:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My apologies for cross posting but the information below should help to explain what you have witnessed. This sounds like a meteor exploding in the atmosphere. We had something similar in Christchurch a few years ago. Quoting: ScarfNZ 31669436 [link to www.sott.net] Some more information about the Canterbury meteor: 'Flashing across the sky at speeds of 40,000kmh, a meteor in "terminal fireball" sent a sonic shockwave across the South Island on Tuesday afternoon, startling and frightening thousands of residents. The sonic boom from the meteor speeding through the Earth's atmosphere at 2.55pm yesterday was heard by people from Hinds, south of Ashburton, to Blenheim. The boom caused buildings to shake and windows to break, and prompted a flood of calls to emergency services. Ashburton to Blenheim is about 360 to 380km. [link to meteorite-identification.com] |
