How do you keep freedom alive in your life?

 Quoting: Lies & Alibis

Now I am Me

the coexistence of you in me
the deceptions that you've made me see
your blind damn hypocrisy
...all in all, you are me

destiny is as destiny does
so, shit happens: what could i have done?
you swallowed me in, and i didn't hold up
you emerged, leaving me in the dust

you were only a facade hiding the truth
you couldn't accept when others saw through
the anguish, the tears, the suffering, the pain
it all wasn't worth, not in your name

where i went, to where i've come
what has passed, and what is done
i've done it alone, no thanks to you
look what i've turned into

i'm proud to say that i've become
all that you have made undone
you wrecked me down and i've restored
my goals accomplished that i've worked toward

i'll shed a tear, for you have passed
my dark shadow gone, breathe at last
it feels so good for me to see
you are my past, now i am me

Kenshiro Robot Gets New Muscles and Bones

We’ve seen bio-inspired hummingbird robots, turtle robots, squirrel robots and more… enough to start an extremely profitable robot zoo. But very few researchers have been able to mimic the human body down to muscles and bones.

Researchers at the University of Tokyo are taking bio-inspired robots to new heights with Kenshiro, their new human-like musculoskeletal robot...

...these motors give Kenshiro 64 degrees of freedom (except for the hands): 13 in the neck, 13 in each arm, 7 in each leg, and 11 in the spine.

Kenshiro's bone structure is also quite the sight. Its aluminum bones, including an impressive rib cage, are sturdier than previous 3D printed bones (breakage tended to be a problem), and its knee-joints include imitations of cruciate ligaments and a floating patella.

SPAUN - Semantic Pointer Architecture Unified Network,
Building a large scale model of a functional human brain

A Perception-Cognition-Action Model Using Spiking Neurons

The model is called Spaun, which stands for Semantic Pointer Architecture Unified Network. It consists of 2.5 million simulated neurons. The model captures biological details of each neuron, including which neurotransmitters are used, how voltages are generated in the cell, and how they communicate. Spaun uses this network of neurons to process visual images in order to control an arm that draws Spaun's answers to perceptual, cognitive and motor tasks.

"This is the first model that begins to get at how our brains can perform a wide variety of tasks in a flexible manner—how the brain coordinates the flow of information between different areas to exhibit complex behaviour,"...

Unlike other large brain models, Spaun can perform several tasks. Researchers can show patterns of digits and letters the model's eye, which it then processes, causing it to write its responses to any of eight tasks. And, just like the human brain, it can shift from task to task, recognizing an object one moment and memorizing a list of numbers the next. Because of its biological underpinnings, Spaun can also be used to understand how changes to the brain affect changes to behaviour.

 Quoting: Lies & Alibis

A human being, acting on their own natural sense of fairness rather than with conformity to the rules of the technological system will be regard as “unethical” or “irresponsible” according to the system.

The techno system believes human will is imposing, arrogant, and unreasonable. - something that the techno system claims it never will be.

Technologies’ Secret

When I speak there comes a lie
I open up and out it flies
I take a breath and in it comes
Oh why won’t someone just take my tongue?

I cannot think without bad thoughts
I had them even as a tot
My mind starts to roll and they toll along
Rolling trolling playing their song

I cannot smile, oh why? oh why?
I have lips, but they won’t even try
I turn them up, but they turn down
I am wry for I only frown

When I see, I am blind
The world enshrouded with lucid crime
There is no truth to be seen
Oh why must I be so mean?

I touch I touch, but nothing is there
I feel I feel but no one is here
I’m trapped all alone in my misery
Someone please, come save me?

Re: Technology vs. Freedom - Round V
Apple has filed an application for an advanced computer than can be worn as a bracelet, which can also double as a watch. The filing has led to industry suspicions that Apple is ready to develop the technology for an iWatch.

According to the patent, the touch screen display would be roughly 1 inch by 9 inches in size, and would be flexible enough to bend and coil. This ability would allow it to wrap around a person's wrist or other appendage. A heat seal covering the display would help protect it, while battery, connector and wireless antennae devices would be embedded into one end of the strap. Other devices, such as solar and kinetic energy sensors could be added to help charge the watch. End-sensor technology allows the watch to overlap itself at any point without interrupting the continuous display on the touch screen.

Re: Technology vs. Freedom - Round V
Technology may give you the chance to adapt to it through the process of natural selection, but more than likely, if you do not adapt to the new environment of technology, you will be adjusted to fit this environment, and your natural human needs will be artificially re-designed. Human needs are retrofitted and modified with technology to fit into its physical and social environments.

There is no reason to stop at any particular point. Modifications will continue until the nature of man has been utterly transformed.

Electronic "tattoos" make telekinesis possible

A thin, flexible electronic "tattoo" with the ability to read brain wave activity has been developed by electrical engineer Todd Coleman at the University of California at San Diego. Researchers hope this non-invasive device will enable people to control certain machines with their mind.

The width of the device is approximately as thick as the diameter of a strand of human hair. When placed on someone's forehead, it is able to detect electrical signals from the brain and transmit signals to other machinery.

The authorities were concerned that a famous old tree was being damaged because so many tourists came up to it and touched it. So, a wall was built around the tree to protect it.

But, this had the opposite effect of that intended. Why?
